    Tick Data and Range Bars

Am I correct in assuming that constant range bars require tick data? I'm interested in backtesting some systems on SPY with range bars, but I'm going to need about 10-15 years of tick data. What are the cheapest options?

Is Ron Paul America's last hope for redemption?

RP is a right-wing paranoiac masquerading as a libertarian. Up your meds and move out of mommy's basement.

    Degree Required?

I'll never understand the infatuation with large cities, but I grew up in one, so maybe that's why. You'll be dealing with a very high cost of living and some insane competition for jobs. Omaha, NE is where I'd want to be. Whatever you do, don't major in finance.

Look, college grad turns down 40K job.

I'm within this age bracket (25), and most of my middle-class peers wouldn't think twice before accepting a $40k/year job offer. His parents obviously have money, so he could afford to hold out for a better position. However, choosing the wrong path directly out of college could severely...

Myth #1. Illegal Aliens Take American Jobs.

According to the CBO: "The tax revenues that unauthorized immigrants generate for state and local governments do not offset the total cost of services provided to those immigrants."

Saudi Arabia King Orders a Halt to Oil Exploration

Oil is the only natural resource available in countries like Saudi Arabia. Therefore, nations that rely heavily on oil production will be the biggest losers.

Daughter sues dad over College tuition

This situation is no different than any other breach of contract. Unfortunately, this thread's title will incite countless sanctimonious rants from individuals who chose "real majors" and supposedly never once received a handout, charity, or assistance of any kind.

This crisis means the end of bullsh*t college and university degrees?

Who said it had to be Berkley? Any state university with an ABET accredited engineering program will do. Foreigners with a terrible grasp of the English language are capable of graduating from these programs each year and find jobs. Any American with a little motivation could achieve the same.

This crisis means the end of bullsh*t college and university degrees?

Trade schools are experiencing the bubble as well. Federally subsidized Stafford loans are granted to both college-bound students and those in vocational programs. There's a private trade school nearby that offers certificates in aeronautical maintenance. These programs run around $20k and the...

    World military spending in 2009 = $1.53 trillion. USA share = 43%

Typical conservative morons. Military spending is not a big deal, but education spending and student loans are.

Defending student loans and the American education system.

Interestingly enough, elite schools have never offered accounting as a major nor an MBA concentration. They've always considered it too "vocational". So, it's highly unlikely that a quant from an elite school would want a lowly accounting job. The numbers put out by the BLS contradict your...

Defending student loans and the American education system.

Perhaps you didn't read the entire post or you didn't read it correctly. I simply stated that the CPA supersedes the masters degree and will lead to better job prospects than a masters degree and no CPA. Whether the CPA is important is entirely dependent on your work experience, skill-set...

Defending student loans and the American education system.

You're wasting your time and money pursuing a second masters degree. Funny that an econ major with an MBA doesn't realize this. Just pick up the accounting credits. Accounting firms, even the Big 4, couldn't care less about your degree(s). The CPA is more important.

Defending student loans and the American education system.

You have $100k in school loan debt? I'm having a tough time understanding how this is possible assuming you attended a state school, especially in the southeast where tuition rates are reasonable. I have a friend who attended a state university in Florida and didn't even work part-time while...
