    Getting Paid

As this thread has wound down to a quiet close, I am now ready to reveal: I, Menace, am also known as RS7. As some have deduced. And as some have been informed prior to now. The reason I used a different alias was simply to try and keep things a bit more objective from the reader's point...

A guy I traded with tried it. Had pretty good results too! But alas, he no longer trades, he is now slicing pastrami and lox at the local bagel place. Good news is he owns the place. Married right, which works better than anything for some:) An excellent trade for him. Second marriage. M.

Good advice. But it was just a chapter and I have no regrets. It was a long time ago, and it lead to better things. I really told the story to get a feel for the risk tolerance among us. Like I said several times, I have no regrets, and would do it again given the same circumstances. Believe me...

    Broadway to file Chapter 11!

I heard that when Jeff was in a coma that some of the managers and/or traders were looting the firms capital. Now I don't know who any of the players were. I have no idea who Marc F is (who you alluded to). I just know some of Jeffs family. I also have been led to believe he had some backing...

    Getting Paid

I agree with every word you say. I was really trying to get a read on the mentality of traders here, and their ability to take risk. I would do it all over again for sure (not with the same people:)). I felt lousy about my wife quiting her job. I think that was really the worst part of the...

    Getting Paid

I guess I was unclear. I know my writing skills could use a little work. When I refered to the guy as a "wildman", I just meant in his trading. As a retail broker, I had never encountered someone that would make 40 or 50 trade a day. I was used to one trade every 5 months or so. I took no...

Well the poll is now up to 80% in favor of my move (or not totally against. Depends on the spouse I guess). It is my contention that I made the right move. It is also my contention that anyone who voted #3 or#4 and would not have gone does not have the suitable disposition to be a trader...

Yes, well I thought so. Sorry that I have a simple mind. But as you know, you and I are not the only ones that are aware of this sad situation. Humbly yours, M

Nope, not a broker anymore. And I have not a single regret (other than not getting paid a lot of money). I learned a lot, and I got into real trading. As for the rest of what you say....you are implying I have a simple mind? Peace to you too my friend! M

Maybe a little, but you know how greed can play into things. And also, I REALLY wanted out of being a broker, and loved the idea of trading! I think you should write a book. It sounds like an interesting story. Kind of like "The Firm". I actually did write a memoir about it...it was...

Yep, that was my feeling. I wonder why people are voting that they wouldn't have done the same, yet they are not explaining why??? (the percentage seems to have dropped though). M.

    Getting Paid

Excellent question!!! Here is what happened. The client (clients as it turned out) were trading some pretty sophisticated option spreads. The time frame included Oct. of '87. After the "crash", the exchanges raised their margin requirements. But most of the brokerages raised their margin...

I am sure you are right...everyone is a lot smarter with "hindsight". I was just hoping to get honest answers (yours was), but from people who said they would not have taken the shot. I just don't get it. I am sure I would still do the same thing again given the same circumstances. M

Back to Dirty Harry: "I Gots To Know!" How come fully 25% of the people who voted so far would not have taken the risk? Are they smarter than me? Are they too risk averse (to trade maybe)? Please explain if you voted nay! Thanks, M

Hey, who are the 3 people that don't like Chicago? I love Chicago! (Lost that job and got screwed out of money there, but met my wife there years earlier. Great city!!!). :) :) M.

Nothing. It never occurred to me at the time I got hooked up with the lawyers that they would ever be in a position to be my adversaries. But they were, because they never really worked for me. They worked for the corporation. The irony of it was they eventually withdrew from representing them...
