    IBDs www.investors.com

IB has a great site and a great daily paper. I study the Big Picture section to get a feel for the market and what it might do over the next week or so. They were talking about an oversold bottom condition a few days before the October bottom. Sadly I didn't take any positions to profit from...

    IB Margin change

Well, if you are a little guy with under 2k, you can't trade futures with IB anymore . This may be a good thing, but for those that just wanted to get their feet wet and learn about trading futures, you'll have to pony up more dough. Here is their e-mail. I'm one of those little guys that would...

    Best Discount Futures Broker?

interactivebrokers.com, but they only trade currency, metal, interest rate, and index futures (And the comin Single Stock Futures as well). Have a look around, see if they have what you need. They charge 2.40 a side. I've been using them for 4 months now, I like em

    ES Daytraders: How many indicators?

My point was that new traders focus almost soley on win/loss. It surely is important, and a good win loss will drive your profits. Certainly having an edge makes the difference between regular traders and the masters, but early on no trader has an edge, they are learning. That being the...

    ES Daytraders: How many indicators?

Unfortunately, I don't have any good recommendations, I just learned the hard way from personal experience. Have a look at my thread "Blown Out" in the Journal's section. You'll also read from successful traders on that thread that money management is one of the most important aspects in this...

    ES Daytraders: How many indicators?

My advice is to focus less on indicators, and focus heavily on profit/loss ratios and position sizing (If you plan to trade more than one contract at a time). You'll be good to get a better than 60/40 win/loss regardless of what indicator(s) you use. You'll make your money with solid money...

    Is IB good or bad?

And their realtime chat customer service is good. Calling them on the phone may take a while to get through. Can't beat the prices and I really like TWS.

trading e- minis vs trading equities

The e-mini's are extremely liquid, and trade wonderfully fast on their electronic decks (Globex for S&P and Nasdaq e-minis, A/C/E for the dow e-mini) Floor traded listed stocks trade slower. If you are scalping off of very short time spans, you may find the e-mini's a better vehicle for you...

    40yo's new career or bust

May I ask, in analyzing your trades, what is your win/loss ratio, what is your profit/loss ratio, and what is your average position size (How much capital risked per trade). Trading is a numbers game, more than it is a game of skill. Your edge might get you 60/40 win to loss ratio. Where you...

Why Do Most Traders Lose MOney?

From my experience, most traders fail to understand the two critical ratios. Win/Loss and Profit/Loss. Most of us focus almost all our efforts on finding the perfect indicator, the perfect setup, the perfect edge. In reality, most traders will never get past 60/40 Wins to Losses. What kills you...

    Blown out

I was curious if any of the traders on this board have done an analysis of their win/loss ratios, and their profit/loss ratios, and would be willing to post that information here.

    Blown out

I have, for your viewing pleasure/amusement, my trade log from the past 3 months. I have gone from 2000 to about $383.00. Aside from the humor/sadness aspect of this, I wanted to share this with you as a learning experience. Please note that charting is up to you. I did not save my charts, just...

    How's IB been lately?

I've been with IB for 4 months now, and have made 120 round trip trades with them, and I have no complaints. I've traded on the GLOBEX, A/C/E, and various ECN's (ARCA, ISLAND, etc). I've had no problems. I do see a lot of bulitens about trading problems on ARCA and GLOBEX from time to time, but...

    MiniDOW Fees and Execution

Dow 2 contracts tend to have wide spreads and no liquidity (But they are fine for trading on a 5 minute chart) The Dow 5 has decent spreads and liquidity, but not as good as the S&P or the Nasdaq. However, since the dow moves so many points in one day, its easy to trade around the spread issue...

Radical IB suggestin - Please vote

If your trading the volumes of 100K + per month, your profits, in theory, should be such that having IB rebate some of your commissions would be of no real significance. They are already as cheap as it can get. I'd rather pay what we are already paying and have IB invest in its people and systems.

    Building a new tower ???

I trade on an iMac at home, it's a G3-500mhz running Jaguar. The TWS from IB works flawlessly on it, and OS X hasn't crashed in over a year (basically since 10.1). In my experience, Apple's are just fine for trading, as long as you are on NeXTSTEP, er I mean OS X

    Any Mini Dow Traders?

I notice that the CBOT doesn't make mention much, of the 2$ multiplier contract. However, I couldn't find and official notice that they were discontinuing it after december. Could you point me to the URL where they mention its demise? I'm sort of sad to see it go, since its such a great...

    Tomorrow is going to R O C K !

The market can take those dreams away from you. The market can and will do whatever it wants to. I wish you success in your trading ventures, but may I caution that emotion and opnion are no friend of the trader. This work is more a matter of understanding, humility, probability and a healthy...

    Something very simplistic

I'm really starting to love the idea of these reversal trades. The more I review my own losers, the more I see that if I had reversed, I'd have a lot more capital in my account today. Hmmmm, and with cheap commission rates at IB, there isn't too much lost to commission. There is of course the...
