    eSignal 11 Preview

Interesting, I use about 24MP of screen real estate when I'm trading so that's a concern for me. I'm not sure how one would isolate a problem like that to video card performance though, is there some utility you can run that shows you video card load or something like that?

    eSignal 11 Preview

I like the look of the new platform Jay, and I've seen first-hand how multithreading a complex UI can really minimize the nervousness of end users. I'd be interested in beta testing the current version, is it available to traders who aren't current eSignal customers? I'm not looking for a free...

Futures charting on thinkorswim is a constant headache

With respect, that chart is showing a combination of the U9 and V9 contracts, while the label says it's the September contract - are you saying that this is some sort of "feature" that I don't understand as opposed to a bug? Especially when the TOS CSRs were scratching their heads about it...

Futures charting on thinkorswim is a constant headache

That's likely the case but as you can see from the title bar (hidden in the first pic), it's clearly the U9 September chart that I've called up: Furthermore the live and paper accounts were showing different charts for the same contract at the time. Confusing to say the least!

Historical per-tick data for futures, ideally with news, ideally browser-based?

That's what I'm finding pretty much everywhere, which I find astonishing - although perhaps a business opportunity? :p

Futures charting on thinkorswim is a constant headache

I really like thinkorswim - the broker, the company, and the software platform - but you really need to watch out if you're planning to use their platform for charting futures: No, crude did not jump $2 in one minute this afternoon. Frequently, many futures charts (especially popular...

How to pick a futures broker?

Like Global, Mirus or Velocity? I don't mind the derail, what amount of leverage for the ES would you consider reasonable and why?

    News/momentum trading of bond futures?

I hope some of you folks got up early with me to catch the retail sales and jobs numbers: I'm interested to see what will happen at 9:30, the bulls have been on fire lately so they may just shrug off this data, either way I think I'll hang on and tighten up my stops a bit.

Historical per-tick data for futures, ideally with news, ideally browser-based?

I'm primarily a momentum/news trader of equities, however I've lately been making more and more consistent profits with futures (mostly financial and energy) trading regular news releases. I'm interested in finding a software package that will let me do the following, real-time data is not...

    News/momentum trading of bond futures?

I decided to sit on hands for the FOMC announcement today at 2:15pm EST and I'm glad I did: That's a 95 tick swing on 30 year bond futures in one minute. Unfortunately I can't really make use of a trade like this but at least I know now to close my bond positions before the FOMC...

How to pick a futures broker?

Thanks, I looked at Global but saw that they require $1,000 in initial margin for ES if you trade more than 50 contracts (and even more if you trade more than 100 contracts), which means I'll have to tie up twice as much money in my futures account as say Mirus which only requires $500 initial...

    News/momentum trading of bond futures?

Well I didn't think trading bond futures on auction results was any sort of a secret, but if it was, I guess the cat's out of the bag now! :p What I meant by luck was that I just upgraded to the newest version of my trading software and I always spend a day or two paper trading to ensure...

How to pick a futures broker?

I'm currently with IB and as I've gradually made higher and consistent profits trading futures instead of equities, I'm thinking it might be time to open an account with a dedicated futures broker to release a lot of my capital currently tied up in IB's margin requirements (for example, IB...

    News/momentum trading of bond futures?

I got lucky again today by paper trading the 3-year auction at 1pm, here was the preview (from TradeTheNews): Preview: Treasury's $37B 3-year note auction results due out just after 1PM ET - $37B is a $2B increase over July auction - prior bid-to-cover ratio 2.62 with an average of 2.53...

    News/momentum trading of bond futures?

Today's GDP news was better than expected but still triggered a 9 point drop in ES and a 45 tick gain in the ZF within 8 minutes. I'll definitely be adding these announcements to my news tracking for the ZF, as I expect similar results in the future at least until markets return to normal -...

    News/momentum trading of bond futures?

Today's 7 year auction was almost the complete opposite of yesterday's, fortunately for me ZF was making and trading right around the LOD before the auction so I didn't go short a second time, dodging a bullet as it climbed 59 points in about 30 minutes. Besides auctions, what other regular...

    bonds market. What was that?

There was a 7 year treasury auction at 1pm which was much more popular than expected, always check Econoday for schedules.

    News service for futures markets?

Thanks guys, what news services specifically should I inquire about at Bloomberg and Reuters? To be honest I have trouble figuring out what products they offer that might suit a retail trader like me instead of an i-banker on a trading floor!

    News service for futures markets?

I currently trade US stocks and energy/financial futures, and have been slowly focusing more of my attention on my futures trading as my profits in those areas have increased, and of course I much prefer the mechanical aspects of futures to stocks. I'm a momentum/news trader and I currently use...

Please Recommend a PC Configuration for Heavy Excel Calculations

I don't know how often your spreadsheet is being loaded/saved to disk or how much disk access is taking place while it's running, but you may want to invest in a solid state hard drive which is a hard drive comprised of flash memory (like you have in a camera). I have one of the new Samsungs in...
