    Great Firewall

Was using a pretty decent firewall (Sofaware 500P) but noticed the more rules I added and inspected the more delay it caused on my connection. I use 50mpbs FIOS and wanted to ensure no delay and maximum bandwidth with top notch security. Astaro Firewall is my new firewall and was FREE...

Windows 7 for FREE as of May 5th

I have been running Windows 7 RC on my laptop and must say it's very nice. I loaded the OS on a solid state drive (Intel X-25M) and it just moves soo quick. So far no issues with drivers. Most Vista drivers will work for Windows 7. Esignal and quotetracker both work. I considering...

New Dell 3400 with dual NVS 290 cards - good enough?

I also have the T3400 with 64bit Vista and 8gbram, 4 24" monitors on the NVS290 cards. Runs great. Thought the monitors looked bright and colors to much for all day trading.. Recently bought a calibration tool below and my monitors, charts and all apps look awesome...

    Increase speed?

For a trading PC I don't think formating regularly is worth it if regular maint is done. A trading PC should be like a server that is dedicated for the task. So you should not have problems of installing many different programs or system changes. You run your trading applications and that's...

    Increase speed?

As for Hardware my 2009 vote has to go for a new Solid State Drive. A good one like Intel X-25M. Made my laptop feel super responsive. Hoping Intel or Samsung releases large capacity drives for my desktop. SSD drives has been the best upgrade I have done in a while.
