Flying first class and not coach, why?

The perks listed are nice, but the pre-boarding stuff is also important. People absolutely pay full price for that privilege but we know we're overpaying. I normally fly privately; I put ~200 hrs. on the airplane last year. I have ~50 on it this year. I have to fly commercial tomorrow to NY...

Traders Rev Up Aston Martins, Maseratis as Supercar Taboo Fades

I'd wager that sales are down over two years; dealerships are not able to charge the premium they used to. At this point, everyone still wants a good deal. Spring of 07, few really cared.

Price of Risk, as priced by the market.

Deflation? Private debt is being destroyed quicker than gov. is creating new debt.

Most of the recent GDP "growth" comes only from rebound in stock and oil prices?

Do you understand what the GDP is

New mileage rules: Pay more for cars, less at pump

Ever maintained one? Not a cheap proposition if you drive it regularly.

What lifestyle would live someone who is guaranteed to get $1.2M/yr.?

My grandfather is filthy rich; he couldn't spend all his money if he tried to. He lives in a huge mansion and is only visited by his employees and the family member he's bought. He's probably one of the most miserable person I've known. I understand he now has medical problems and that the few...

Retail Businesses and Credit Card Fees.

The cost and risk to bring cash to the bank, or have it picked up, is minimal when compared to the cost of credit cards. Unfortunately the cost of not taking CC is impossible to calculate for most small businesses and giving credit to clients is more expensive than CC so they are here to stay.

Germany Will Buy Stolen Swiss Bank Account Data

Yeah but you can tell the gov to pound sand as long as you are not repatriating the income. They know there is money there but they can't do anything about it.

    New Business Jet

I'm a pilot, VP of an aviation organization and currently building my next airplane. I don't believe in the data the company puts forward. Hell, we just spend over 1k in fuel alone in a fuel efficient piston plane (more efficient than turbines) for a trip similar to MIA/JFK. I just spent some...

    Bailout ???

Let's assume our elected leaders pass the bill and the government buys these assets, as advertised, above market rate and creates a transparent market. Banks will happily sell but no market will be created. No private investor will be stupid enough to buy at a premium and banks won't sell to...

Be honest: Who here has noticed lack of credit, hardship borrowing, etc?

I'm pretty sure this is standard. That's what I have with AMEX.

Did you see the credit crisis coming

I saw it coming and was always the most pessimistic in the room. Unfortunately, I don't have the experience to apply my judgement. I had no clue how much the stocks would pull back, but I'm learning a bunch as we go along. I'll be ready for the next one. I've made a little bit of money, but...

    FNM, FRE a buy now?

Scrap paper :D Depending on how diluted it gets, it may be worth something but you'll have to wait a long time to see any money. Anything can be done for a trade, but if you had a plan in place you wouldn't be asking the question or ask it in a different form.

    Tip on purchasing a home

I went through the same exercise last year with my mom. I calculated the after tax cost of the mortgage v.s. the risk adjusted return if she invested the money. Right now, the way the market has been going, I feel pretty smart but I could have been wrong. However, as stated, the peace of mind...
