What does Karen the Supertrader and her results say about volatility? Oversold?

You need such a huge amount of capital to do what she's doing, even in tiny lot size - no way I could ever do this. She's doing "nekkid" options on SPX - up to 1000 lots - that's like over $150M capital requirements - WOW! A Black Swan event would knock her out. But, she started out with covered...

It's more than just covered calls. It's a specific technique for managing positions to generate monthly income using mostly CCs with some put selling. The program is geared towards newbs and retired folks who want steady income. And, it did as advertised for the majority of those who followed...

Calculate system stats from excel file

Does anyone know of a tool, website, or spreadsheet that will calculate trading stats based on a list of historic trades? I have a spreadsheet that includes several hundred trades, including the buy/sell prices and dates. Is there a tool that will calculate things like sharpe ratio, profit...

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

For those of you reading the Brooks book, he's got a new web site (brookspriceaction.com) where he continues to analyze intraday ES setups. It's free right now but he says he will start charging at some point.

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

Well Duh! Actually, I prefer this approach: "For example, if the bars on the left are near the lower left corner of your monitor and the bars on the right are near the upper right-hand corner and there are not many large upswings and downswings in the middle of your screen, then this is...

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

I've been trying to get through this Brooks book as well and couldn't agree more. It seems like this guy is really onto something, edge-wise, but OMG! It's not just about experienced vs inexperienced trader, it's about basic respect for your reader. Numerous inconsistencies and errors, and...

    Weinstein Trading and Fading

Bob, Takes a lot of guts to put yourself out there the way you do. It's a real education for everyone following your journal (journey) through the good times and bad. So sorry you had things turn on you as it did, but it will remind a lot of people around here how easy it is to fall off...

    Emintrader trading system

Emini, I too am confused by your stop, can't tell from first page if it's .07, or 7%. Also, some of your early posts where you show entry and exist prices on losing trades don't seem to add up. A .07 stop doesn't make sense when you have stock prices ranging from single digit to 3 digits.

    A 70k bet that I can't make a 50% gain in 2009

I've been following this thread almost since day one and I'm convinced that geez's success is due primiarily to his rock solid discipline - he sets his stop and target immediately and rarely (occasionally) changes those based on his rules. I'm guessing he could be successful with purely random...

Risk Management for Swing Trading Stocks?

Buy puts for protection on long stock positions. A hard stop can get you taken out in a nano-second. Options have a little more staying power, so-to-speak. Strike price can be tested multiple times without you getting called out. Not a perfect solution, just another "option" (... see how I did...
