That 80-percent number is misleading because it doesn't take into account the amount of contracts that were offset before expiration. Sure most contracts that are held to expiration are worthless, but the amount that were offset for a profit before expiration is not counted.

That is true you can trade for them, but you are not (by law) permitted to get paid for it.

If you want compensation for trading the accounts you need to be registered.

Covered calls on dividend paying stocks "IMO" work best in a stagnant market, unless you are trying to time the market. The problem is you would receive less for the option because of lower volatility.
