98% of Traders Fail? Says Who...?

Yep, I fully agree with you, Jaba. The more I investigate this topic, the more I feel that the question: "What percentage of traders succeed?" is essentially impossible to answer and that it's also basically meaningless, due to the many significant variables that it ignores. As you say, a...

While reading the "Black Friday" post, I noticed that marketsurfer referred to a song of that title as being a good "Trading Song". I thought it might be fun to create a Trading Compilation CD containing songs whose titles sum up the "trading experience". I take first dibs on the most...

98% of Traders Fail? Says Who...?

Aha! - Here is a page I just found, which has some interesting looking information. I have not read the entire page yet, but I will post more comments when I read & digest the whole thing. In one case, it even provides a link to the original study(!), but doesn't seem to link to any of the...

98% of Traders Fail? Says Who...?

I was really hoping to establish the origin and method of this much-quoted statistic first and perhaps discuss its usefulness later. We can't do much more than postulate about usefulness, until the source and method are known. If anyone can post such a source, that would be great, thanks...

98% of Traders Fail? Says Who...?

Many people are fond of quoting the statistic that 98% of traders fail. Googling "% of traders fail" yields 4950 pages (interestingly, "% of traders succeed" yields only about 15 pages!). A quick scan of the search results shows that the quoted percentages range from 80% to 99%. :confused...
