    Best Latency?

So assuming I'm coloed with or near my broker, it seems like the thing to worry about are my broker's processing speeds. So who would you suggest? And who's best for clearing?

    Best Latency?

Unfortunately I think those market data centers are above my budget; I was thinking more like just doing a standard colo at CBOT or Lakeside... and my volume won't be enough to justify going direct. Hadn't even heard of GuavaTech before, good to hear of more options OK, will stay away from TT...

    Best Latency?

I was wondering if anyone here keeps track of their connection latency to their futures brokers, delay from quote servers, or have some idea of order processing times. I'd really like to hear what kind of numbers people are logging. Also, if any of you are willing to PM me order entry and/or...

CME threatens to fine me $2000

I have noticed slowdowns before, but exactly what is going on at the exchange would be speculation on my part. When I have inquired, it usually turns out to be unspecified technical difficulties at the broker. flame wars aren't really my thing I'd really like to know why you think you know...

CME threatens to fine me $2000

are you serious? do you have any idea how little bandwidth an order takes compared to all the streaming video / audio people do nowadays? any idea how little computer processing power internet-speed order flow uses? with all the fees paid to the broker & exchange, if they can't keep...

    Comcast . . .

Comcast has been absolute crap lately, now at least I know why. Did you get an upgrade to the new type of modem? Any improvement if so?

Odd lot order execution I bet no one can answer

could be delayed in the sense "oops we missed a couple hundred shares from a transaction, better print those" or off-exchange transactions that can be reported whenever they feel like it that trading day :)

    Benefits of a Bloomberg?

From what I remember, it's close to $20k/mo per terminal for the comprehensive package. I'm sure you can get the price jacked up even more if you try ;)

    Router question

Does your big download slow down too? If so, you're probably getting throttled. If not, your big download is probably choking out the other computers' bandwidth. Getting a router with QoS would help. I doubt your ISP is dumb enough to allocate bandwidth per IP, but you can always try...

Best option strategy for a stock expected to double

Maybe try single stock futures then? AUY1C has pretty pathetic open interest though

    kick-in kick-out (KIKO) options?

I read an article this morning about Korean businesses recently losing over 60 billion won on kick-in kick-out (KIKO) currency options. I can't find any details about what those are. Anyone care to enlighten?

    Oanda Ripoff prices

Heh, you think you're pissed, check the recent spreads on USD/CNY. I opened a trade when they were 60 (I think Oanda was claiming 25 was normal at the time), I haven't seen it below 500 recently, was 700 all yesterday, and weekend spread is 800 points. They say spreads only widen during news...

IS THIS LEGAL ? Arranged trades after hours with a friend at a hedge fund

Well, just to add a contrary opinion, offering "to the crowd first" is not the only way to do things. Hedge funds tap dark pools for placing large orders, often outside of the current market price, because everyone knows that such large blocks would affect the market price. Considering all the...

    Aig

apparently strongest != most profitable? :D I would also be surprised if they sold off the "core" insurance portion of their business, as that would really not make them an insurer anymore. They're not out to entirely change their business model. No surprises there.

    Aig

From Reuter's article today: "We're going to take those assets which are probably very valuable, but can also be digested by buyers in relatively manageable bites, and we will simply start to market them," Edward Liddy, who was appointed AIG's chief executive last week, said in an interview...

    Aig

Like I said, it was a newswire headline from Hong Kong. Yeah, recent news looks like everyone is getting a bail out, but AIG still looks like a crap shoot at this point.

Oops, ignore that last message, somehow I posted before Snackly's message showed up (but saw the one after)?
