    IB TICK-NYSE Indicator

TICK-NYSE should work with RegT Margin account. But remember IB does not have TICK historical data. You only have access to live ticker.

    Redi Plus user manuals

Another point to mention is that many of Redi's advanced order execution and management features work primarily for Equities. If you're trading Futures, you, most likely, are not going to see an advanced order management system with multi-step bracket orders, trailing stops, etc. Their Monitor...

    Redi Plus user manuals

AFAIK, what you see is what's out there in their site if you have a login id with them. If you're an institutional trader, you may request a one-to-one walk-through of their system. Best is to call them directly.

    Optiver IT test?

You also need to be prepared for programming logic and algorithm questions like in the GRE's quant and analytic sections. For example you may need to double sort a small hash table based on numerical AND alphabetical orders in each column separately to give an answer. Another type of question...

What Futures to trade Overnight @EST? EUR 6E, AUD 6A, Euro Bund, Bobl, Schatz?

Thanks, I was thinking of the hours between 1AM-11AM, given the recent choppiness in the afternoon hours of the US market. What's the best among Bund, Bobl, and Shatz?

What Futures to trade Overnight @EST? EUR 6E, AUD 6A, Euro Bund, Bobl, Schatz?

I thought US customers can only trade SHI, but this had changed recently. Thanks for the tip.

What Futures to trade Overnight @EST? EUR 6E, AUD 6A, Euro Bund, Bobl, Schatz?

Thanks Martinghoul. I may have misused the term "trend" here but what it refers to is short term moves/swings beyond choppiness, e.g. different from what we see in midday moves of ES these days. For ZB this short term moves are of the order 7/32 and higher. I'd consider Euro 6E a good candidate...

What Futures to trade Overnight @EST? EUR 6E, AUD 6A, Euro Bund, Bobl, Schatz?

I'm familiar with the US market and macros. I stay neutral through econ releases. My trades are short lived (done in minutes). For overnight, I was planning to use Forex calendar to watch out for overseas' econ releases and stay neutral across them. So essentially, any liquid Futures market can...

What Futures to trade Overnight @EST? EUR 6E, AUD 6A, Euro Bund, Bobl, Schatz?

What are most active and liquid Futures to trade overnight living in EST? I've shortlisted the following candidates. Didn't consider DAX due to its high margin requirement. Any feedback or addition is appreciated. - EUR 6E or AUD 6A - EURO Schatz/Bobl/Bund Main criteria are low margin...

    Any one trade bund outright?

Great post Dogfish. I've had an observation which I call "Market Maker Skew". I was curious to get you feedback about it. The skew happens in the Bid/Ask histograms, when the market trending. As an example, when the market is rallying both Bid and Ask Histogram are skewed upward. The way I...

    Need advice

One choice would be to use your stop loss of 20 ticks to trail beyond breakeven. The better choice, IMO, would be to choose 2 ticks below/above the swing lows/highs of each retracement as the trend continues. You can check the latter by inspecting retracements with each up or down trend.

    Need advice

You can enter market with 2 lots. Once market hits your profit target (i.e. 20), unwind one lot and move the Stop of the second lot to a break even point (or change it to a trailing stop) and let the profit run.

    Monte Carlo Simulations?

Matlab is preferred. Excel can do too. You could bootstrap "historical returns" without making any assumption about their distribution. Just pick one at a time and construct the price path. More on bootstrap: http://bcs.whfreeman.com/ips5e/content/cat_080/pdf/moore14.pdf

What kind of specific education background would lead to a career as a quant trader?

Quant Trading is about "trading" using quantitative signals. There is huge difference between a Quant and a Quant Trader. More than 90% of Quants have nothing to do with trading. They are hired to build derivative pricing and hedging engines, conduct research and write code for the...

How Powerful is the Subconscious Mind?

The subconscious is powerful (see the links below). Naturally, we continuously seek control over the affairs we engage in. But when it comes to trading, we need to learn to relinquish this desire. The market is always the boss and in control. We must learn to react to the boss's decisions...

IB's feed for Tick and Trin ?

IB has TICK but only through its TWS (not through the API). The ticker is "TICK-NYSE". Historical data through API is available but its quality is questionable in my opinion. No real time bar data is available through API, so you are stuck with TWS charts.

If I trade ES and use 1 point stop loss, what are the pros and cons?

Look into the concept of "Maximum Adverse Excursion" by John Sweeney. It help you determine an optimum stop loss for your system by separately analyzing winners and losers. http://capitalistattitude.com/http;/capitalistattitude.com/how-to-use-maximum-adverse-excursion-example

    force lock up the stop

If you use Interactive Brokers, you can get the 3rd party order management tool ButtonTrader(www.buttontrader.com) and use its risk management limits to lock your exposure. The Buttontrader does not allow to move your stop beyond your monetary stop limit. IMO, you should give some thoughts...

Emini ES - Overnight pre-market data

Overnight's price action normally evolves "slower" compared to RTH's. Try to double the periods in your system, i.e. use 10, 30, 120 minutes instead. You should find the resulting charts more "familiar" to your eyes. Good luck.
