Guys, i'm signing off for now. I am so depressed. I dont even want to look at my computer screen anymore. To think a few days ago i was up big time. Maybe the fed will cut rates tonight, or maybe a big company will announce good earnings. I don't know.

I believed the fed would not let us fall. No stops. Just a plain margin account. No futures.

Is there anyone i can call who can protect my positions from being sold? If the market will not go up tomorrow, i'll try to bargain for at least wednesday. I really can't believe this is happening.

How the hell can my broker compute margin call when the market is not yet even closed? He Left a message on my machine. I don't want to answer the phone since i am maxed out already. If i do not answer my broker, does he have the right to sell my positions? Anyway, i'll decide...

With the bailout not happening you would think a sell-off would ensue. But no, it's a very slight dip.

When will they lift the ban on short selling? October 2 supposedly. The problem is the SEC qualifies this date with the phrase: "unless further extended by the commission" They can at whim extend it to December 31, 2008 or any date they desire.

So what happens to the short etf's like pro shares? If there will be stricter rules after the 29th for options (as alluded to above) - can inverse etf's still do its job? Or for example, if Germany, Canada, and let us say UK put a ban on shorting what happens to EFU? Or if Taiwan ... what...

Does it include options, futures, swaps, and other instruments? If the ban includes all these instruments, how can a "short ETF" accomplish its task? Or, let us say if I want to short China through FXP, then all of a sudden China puts a ban on shorting. How does the FXP etf go about doing...

There is a trader saying: a down Friday results in a down Monday; but I suspect the opposite is also true -- "an up Friday results in an up Monday" What do you guys think? IMO Friday was capitulation day. With all the bad news out, this is a no-brainer -- we're going up. Strong Buy!
