    Secrets of Market Wizards

This is so BS. Half the people who cut their losses end up missing on giant gains. Buffett's selling strategy is to sell when the reason for owning the stock is no longer true. I've been down 40%+ on positions that ended up being multibaggers from my initial buy.

    Trader P/L 2014

Here's what I got going on in the last 30 days. A lot better than I expected, since losses tend to be way more impacting psychologically than gains. I don't look at my NAV so I thought I was losing a crapload of money, especially because I sold when I shouldn't have and I held when I should've...

What do you think of BUY on Breakout strategy

What? Just because something's up on a good earnings call doesn't mean the volume is much higher. And random breakouts tend to fail badly. Just look at CLRO and GSB recently. Psychologically, traders AND investors would feel better selling at random breakouts. They're thinking should be along...

What do you think of BUY on Breakout strategy

Breakout buys are usually stupid, unless it's from earnings and supported by volume.

Is trading really worth the time and effort?

Mainly thinking about value (buying dollar for 50 cents). I might subconsciously think about support levels. I used to look at technicals, but most of it seemed illogical to me.

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator - General Conditions

Usually small. Though last year I held BAC options. I get all my ideas from other people, so that easily decreases the time it takes me to search.

Reminiscences of a Stock Operator - General Conditions

These are probably conditions that limit business risk. Things like: recurring revenue, stable FCF generation, high returns on capital, limited competition, strong growth profile, trading at a low valuation (like 20% FCF yield, or 0.5 P/B for those looking at banks and insurers). Ever since I...

Looking for a Program That Can Scan Markets Based on Parameters Set

Use Amibroker. First of all, any edition is a one time payment (but if you know where to look, you can get the full versions for free...). If you want to use Amibroker as your main scanner for trading, you should be subscribing to a real time provider. Of course, you can download the database...

    Heads up on LEH!

I'm keeping LEH for awhile. It's up 10+% today because it's a potential takeover target, and BlackRock is continually showing support for Lehman.

    Heads up on LEH!

I think now is the time to buy it. LEH is trying hard to provide more confidence to investors. I've seen LEH bottom out. I doubt it will break 21.50. I do think it should hit the high 20's in a few weeks.
