I just use the ADX/Directional Movement Index. If ADX is above 30, the market is trending strongly. If it's below 20, it's trendless and between 21-29, it's trending, but weak.

This is why I started meditating again. I don't think I could maintain any sanity without it. :)

Do any of you know of a good book about risk acceptance? Although I'm a pretty good technical analyst, it seems that I'm more risk-averse than I'd like to be. I'm reading "Trading in the Zone", but I can't seem to find any exercises or direction on how to overcome my risk-aversion.

You do realize that Indians aren't the only ones who meditate. I've been practicing Buddhist meditation for years and most Indians aren't Buddhist.

Wow, I'm glad I found this forum. I'm a brand newbie, have been doing lots of reading and pretty much EVERYTHING I've read says to set stops at 10% of your equity as soon as you enter a trade. With my measly account, I'd never get anywhere setting immediate 10% stops. Thanks all.
