I know IB allows futures and stocks in the same account. How does this work with margin? For example, say you wanted 110% equity and 110% 10 Year Treasury exposure through futures (ZN). Knowing that the treasury futures require cash as collateral, how does this work? In order to get to 110%...

Does anyone use market on open with IB? Will odd lots be supprted with this? Also, can these be entered on Sunday night for exectution Monday morning? Thanks. p.s. I know this isn't IB support but I am just looking for insight from anyone who uses this type of order.

My guess is hedge funds in crowded trades that need to liquidate to bring down leverage. Notice also the short squeeze in financials as of late too.

This is ridiculous. I have an IRA with IB and will be looking to convert it to a ROTH in 2010 when the income limits for conversions are waived. Does this mean I need to move my IRA somehwhere else, convert it to a ROTH and then move it back to IB. This sucks. Anyone else been thinking about this?

Zack's Research Wizard suffers from many data pitfalls. The worst of all being survior bias. In other words stocks that go bankrupt or get bought out no longer exist in there database so this skews backtests as being more favorable in many cases than what would have be acheived in real time...

Thanks. I'm just confused because on my monthly statement I am actually receiveing interest and not paying interest. For example I have $10,000 in equity and $10,000 longs and $5,000 shorts. I have never seen any interest charges on my statement.

I need some clarification on the calculation of margin interest. I understand that if I were to have a hypothethical portfolio of $10,000 and I bought $15,000 dollars worth of stock I would be charged interest on the $5,000 dollars borrowed to buy stock. My question is how this works on the...
