Did Robert Hoffman really lose 312K in a single TF trade? Yikes!

How does the NFA know if someone is saying it is for educational purposes only? If a complaint is filed then they have to open an investigation to determine if the person needs to be under the regulatory authority of the NFA or not. It is a bit of a catch-22 since they can essentially...

Did Robert Hoffman really lose 312K in a single TF trade? Yikes!

I only had one source so I will bow to your account of multiple sources.

Did Robert Hoffman really lose 312K in a single TF trade? Yikes!

It doesn't matter. The purpose of an NFA investigation is to verify that that someone working in the Futures industry is acting according to the rules of the NFA and whether or not they need to be under the NFA's regulatory umbrella. I'm not saying that they will determine that Hoffman needs to...

    Price Action Traders

Don't you think "inexcusable" is a bit overly dramatic for someone that is voluntarily writing a book for the public market to which he has no obligations? It is very simple, if you don't like the writing of the 2nd edition, don't buy it.

Why was Al Brooks Thread Deleted

I would be happy to answer any questions regarding Al Brook's website. I am the sole owner and operator of the current site. The night before the previous thread in question was deleted I had done a rather lengthy post explaining both my and Al's involvement. I will attempt to repeat that...

SNP500 Trader Robert Hoffman at NYC Trader Expo

I think he has some great setups and a willingness to help people. There are a ton of free YouTube videos that can help people get into trading.

    Quitting Trading

There is a psychological difference between paper trading and trading with real money. Why not find a broker with $1 commissions for 100 shares and trade 1-100 shares until you get a profitable strategy?

    Quitting Trading

The charitable response is the one that gives the benefit of doubt to the OP. I see no reason not to trust him. He says he made money in a business and has been living/trading off that for years. He received some good advice along with some ungracious responses. If anyone wants to toss him a...

    Genesis Q&A

Not to nit-pick... but why do you charge $70 for NYOB when most everyone else charges $50?

    Flat Panel Monitors

NECs have a 3 year warranty... which is good because I've had to send in 5 LCDs for repair in the last 6 months

    Don's Openings Pt. 2

You just gotta love these openings when hundreds of traders all head for the door at the same time. Opening orders were great a year ago... now it's just another diluted strategy used to fill training classes and churn commissions. IMHO.

    Flat Panel Monitors

i bought some 18.1" NEC LCD1830s and have had 4 of them die in the last 2 months... I strongly suggest staying away from the NECs.

    Monitor purchase

It seems like most manufacturers have somewhere around 10 dead or shorted pixels. I have not found any bad pixels on my NECs.

    Monitor purchase

ya, they are not digital... but I didn't really want to upgrade all my video cards to digital. Strangly enough the monitors have 2 analog inputs. I was just seeking the best price/performance ratio and although the 18"s were a bit more expensive... I didn't want a monitor smaller than the 19"...

    Monitor purchase

I just bought some NEC 18.1" LCDs for about $750 each. They work great and hard to beat the price with a brand name monitor. Check out www.pricewatch.com to compare prices. FWIW, FTIComputer.com sorta jerked me around saying the monitors would ship at a specific time... which they didn't and...

    Some "Bright" strategies...

Thank you Don, your point is noted and I apologize for assuming to know your "soul" and motives. I will let my original point stand which is to say that, IMO, Bright Trading has a reputation for diluting their trader's strategies. Your input on this board is valuable and I look forward to...

    Some "Bright" strategies...

The purpose of my post was not to "slam" Don, but to make a point that if you trade at Bright, and if you should be lucky enough to make money, the technique will be spread around if it means more shares traded for the firm, even at the expense of profits of other traders. I know of a number...

    Some "Bright" strategies...

"Please quit telling everyone how we trade. It only diminishes our returns." sfast- You are mistaken... Don is interested in HIS returns, not those of his traders. More traders means more shares traded, even at the expense of the profits of existing traders. Ofc, he wants the traders to...

The bad parts of Pro Trading firms

I'm not sure you are taking into account the marked-to-market accounting. I think it's pretty clear that the income is ordinary income for LLCs that elect MTM accounting. I'm sure someone else could provide the exact IRS code relating to that. fletch
