    What if....

Wet, I agree with you that trading when the odds are against you isn't smart, but that doesn't mean you can't go long when bearish or short when bullish. As a matter of fact, I only trade when the odds are in my favor during a specific time frame. First you must define the time frame that...

    What if....

It's not gambling if it's one of a trader's strategies. Some people want the market to be bearish before they go long and some want it bullish before going short. Market psych suggests otherwise though. I personally don't mind market conditions b/c I make the same amount of profit either way...

    Trading Pre and the Open

I agree that the first 20 minutes is where you can make alot of profits, but during that time I'm only right about 45% of the time so I risk minimal capital. I like to wait for the market to settle down in order to decipher the stock's characteristics and determine how it will behave for the...

    What if....

A real time num-crunching supercomputer would be helpful but I don't think it would make too much of a difference in my type of trading. Most of my attention is taken up by L2 and executions, I use TA as confirmation to my intuition.

    Trading Pre and the Open

I sometimes trade from 9:30 to 10 but it can be a little tricky b/c you need to react very quickly. Most of my profits are made b/w 10-12 and 1-close.

    Post removal update

I'm glad to see that everything worked out between you two . I didn't become a member until after the post removals so I don't exactly know what was said about him, but I think I have a pretty good idea. From reading Ken's posts, he seems like an open-minded indivisual that is trying...

    Workstation Guide

Sniper, what's so bad about Real"turd" III, I thought that it was the software of choice for the serious pro? I haven't used it yet myself b/c I'm currently starting out with esignal but I will eventually switch over to RT III as I gain experience. I might even use both:D. Like you, I can't wait...

    Dual Monitor Video Cards

Yes, 192Mb RAM is needed for each additional monitor if you want to be on the safe side. Baron's info is accurate and he gives his reasons for the high amount of RAM needed. Additional RAM is very cheap, a 256Mb chip is only about $50.

    Paper/Demo trading

That's right macal, start out with the 100 share trades to get used to realtime action. I'm assumming you're going to use IB to minimize commissions and the learning curve loss, so get used to their software through the demo before you actually throw in the benjamins:D. TWS can be a little...

Tradingmarkets is great too! Sitting back and hearing what other traders have to say is a great way to supplement your trading education. It's a more personal experience since you can hear their tone and emotion and you can decide for yourself whether they themselves believe what they are...

    ADSL vs Cable

Predictor, go with what rtharp said on 5/13/01 about both cable and DSL, It beats the $1000 for T1. Having both cable and DSL will cost you about $850 less and will definitely be more advantageous. If you are only going to get one or the other, I rec. DSL b/c of the cable "bottleneck" effect.
