    A 1000 point drop in a day?

"What's a good quote? " A good quote is one that reflects the current market conditions and that you can use to make a trading decision. During the 1987 panic the market makers and specialists disappeared. What ever you saw on your screen could not be used for trading. It was delayed and lots...

    A 1000 point drop in a day?

Were you around in 1987? I worked for Quotron at that time and had a couple of desktops in my office. I was trading OEX options. I watched the 500 point drop unfold in front of my eyes. You couldn't get good quotes to trade on. It was a black hole. The Dow was about 2700 at the top and that...

Market bottom is in- End this doom and gloom

"The economy is sound" hmmmm, where have I heard or seen that quote before? 1974? 2008? 1929? Today is just to suck in the bears and make them short more. Everything is going great. BUY BUY BUY I was going to take out a home equity loan but the bank wanted a new appraisal on the house, and...

    Time 3 go green

StockTroll? Hedgehog? Time to buy on the dips. This is just a minor pullback. We should turn this around tomorrow and start making new all time highs in a couple of weeks. No way are we going to have another great depression. Plenty of money out there. The banks are just having a little...

PPT rally failed, this could get bloody

Cramer sez: BUY! BUY! BUY! Close your eyes and buy the dips. Last chance. Big rally just ahead. No stops required. :D

I'm in the process of switching my server to Hong Kong. I'll update based on my experiences.

    Still not a bear market

We could have a short term rally here. Could last until Thursday. Maybe into next week. Maybe just the opening tomorrow. This market is crazy. BTW, the Visa IPO is not helping the overall market. That is a big chunk of change that could be used for other stocks.

    Still not a bear market

Doesn't look to me like we will get a spike down. Look for a whimper bottom with retests.

Stuck in a corner with no way out

It looks to me like there will be no escaping the pain. Either we suffer through a bad recession, or we get roaring inflation. I would just as soon Gentle Ben stopping goosing the money supply and let interest rates settle at inflation adjusted real rates of return. Let Hank and company come...

Which NEWS SOURCE do you use while trading?

I watch cnbc for late breaking news. I wish I had bloomberg to see how they do with up to the minute breaking news. The online guys are too slow for me.

    Bush on CNBC

Oligopolistic? How many big oil companies are there in the world? Quite a few when you factor in the state owned companies. You might be able to make a case for refiners having a small amount of power over localized pricing, but not in the aggregate. Besides, we are not just importing crude, we...

    Bush on CNBC

Hey Ozzy, If we get into another great depression I am rilly rilly sure you will be rolling in the dough. Right Mate? No spill over in Oz land, right? I knew Bush was an idiot. I voted republican because the alternative was worse. If you like the big nanny euro socialist model then go for...

The next bank to blow up...

BAC! OK, I really think Citi is worse, but BAC has more meat on its bones for us short sellers. It has many of the same negatives as Citi and a big kicker -- Countrywide. Part of the new plan from Paulson is to have the big banks simultaneously eliminate their dividend. After that goes there...

SP just said yesterday financials looking better

No one believes the ratings agencies any more. This is a big part of the current environment where no one is willing to loan money against any of the phony Wall Street paper. No fanni, no salli, no credit card bonds, no nothing!

"One of History's Greatest Financial Crises"

Cramer is a tout. He touts stocks for his buddies on the street. You could do better by trowing darts at the WSJ stock pages.

GOODBYE US BANKS AS BEAR STEARS FAILS

This is going to feed on a total loss of confidence in all of the financial institutions. Soon there will be no place to hide except gold in your personal possession, canned food, and a shotgun.

Stop Failure to Execute on IB

The Hong Kong server seems to be the key. IB told me to switch to the Hong Kong server to eliminate my problems with late night FX trading. Do you trade during US hours? Have you had any problems at that time?
