    Optimal Approach to gamma scalping

I may be missing something here, but it would seem that trying to gamma scalp a long stradle sounds a bit dangerous. My reasoning here is that when long a stradle, you have all the negative theta of both legs (long call & long put), but your gammas & deltas are low (call deltas off-set put...

    Hedging, what it means?

As far as the leverage in FX is concerned, I suggest to new traders to trade FX without any leverage. then, only once they prove to be profitable should they use leverage . ... when suggesting this, the inevitable remark "but my account has 100:1 leverage and my dealer doesn't offer 1:1...

    Hedging, what it means?

I completely agree. Because of the significant leverage offered on spot FX, along with the commercials that incite everybody and their dog to trade FX like McDonalds commercials, there are alot of people that are trying to trade FX not only without trading experience, but also without the...

    Hedging, what it means?

I trade options quite a bit. PLEASE inform yourself before making such parralels between playing on deltas, gamma and theta in options and those "hedging" gadgets on retail platforms. To compare options spread trading and those "hedging" gadgets is like comparing the work of Mozart to...

    Hedging, what it means?

Same questions as illiquid, but I certainly do apreciate questioning the IQ in too many of these posts. I certainly hope I am not amongst the few FX traders here with more than a grade 3 math diploma.... am I ?

    Hedging, what it means?

Definitely a very "special" post. I think I'll print it and keep in in a drawer for when I need a laugh. Remarks: 1) very humble. 2) "I ignore drawdowns because the hedging looks after that" ?? ... if the positions are hedged, then where is the big drawdown ? 3) Another...

The intifada in France continues- The country continues to live in denial.

How can you attempt to compare France, a predominanlty catholic, and a G8 nation, with a place like palestine that is by far majority muslum, poor, at war, and not even a globaly recognised state ? Could you also compare Haiti to Canada ? As for the drug gangs, I too have heard the theory...

The intifada in France continues- The country continues to live in denial.

You certainly do find some prety obscure research. Do you realy believe that Islamic groups are going to take over France because you read it on the internet from some very partial, and very questionable sources ? That is about as pertinant as those who claim that their red neck militant...

... and then you ask if they made a good profit on the trade ... the response is often "no, I was waiting for confirmation :( "

    Weekend gap in FX

Yes, always easy to find stuff like "Oh it is 100% obvious that it was going to crash because it made a doji followed by a 2 dogsfucking formation preceded by a triple divergeance on the rsi and the exhaustion gap was filled when volome spiked as the support on the square root of the weekly...

    "Why won't God heal amputees?"

One of the great things about using religion as a moral guide line is that you can pick and choose the rules that are most convenient for your lifestyle , and just throw out and discount the rules that you find too constraining. Here is one small example...

Here, why don't you try explaining these gaps on this EUR/USD futures contract. You should have a hay day on this one. http://www.tfc-charts.w2d.com/chart/EC/C7

    Weekend gap in FX

I have studied gaps and find it to be inconclusive. I know alot of people like to look into things and try to draw conclusions (even when the conclusions are unwaranted). Furthermore, by looking at FX futures, that is just a bad idea. Why look at a derivative when you can go right to the source...

Well, I see 2 gaps in that chart.. one in the direction of the trend, and the other in the opposite direction of the trend .. you call that conclusive ?
