    Trading corp bonds/municipals

Not sure if etrade is still good but I used to find their listings and tools pretty comprehensive and easy to use compared to most retail brokers.

Hedge Fund Quant Manoj Narang Losing 8% Highlights Industry Woes

I don't think losing 8% is outperformance but speaking more generally these comparisons are flawed. A market neutral quant fund's benchmark might be something like a short term interest rate. Other quant type trend following strategies might compare against CTA index benchmarks or other...

Is it too late to become a daytrader at 30?

You're not too old to get a job on the trading floor at 31...you're just 31 years too late for that job.

Equity Trader Alert #2018 - 3 Nasdaq to Implement the Midpoint Extended Life Order

As a former Knicks fan I can tell you MELO won't execute with others and will cost more with no added benefit.

    selling options

Lol, not this again, but while we're on the topic...if you hold until expiry you're guaranteed to keep 100% of the premium - talk about edge! Sell, sell, sell.

What’s wrong with buying and holding the SPX500?

Taxes, divs, no comms, positive expected return, and guaranteed not to underperform the market. ...downsides are we can't prove ourselves as elite traders. Seems like an obvious choice to daytrade.

    hmmm...

This is intentionally misleading...the headline becomes way less interesting if it's "broker allows clients to access exchange traded products." The headline implies all brokers endorse all the securities they provide access to, which is silly.

How do you plan for a side project?

STi swap into a GDB? JDM swaps were great into anything 02-06. Just had my gaskets done at 170k along with timing kit, clutch, etc. Mine's an NA though so any turbo swap was out.

    Automated Trading Is Gambling

I think the term gambling has a natural association with playing a game of chance where skill is not the primary determinant of the outcome and has a negative expectation. ...most people think of casino games and most would say the casino visitors are gamblers, yet they don't call the house...

The Fear Index by Robert Harris

I bought this years ago because the premise seemed interesting...and then I lost the book on the subway. Cool story huh? Seems fun though, I should buy it again. I'd be interested in some reviews too and didn't realize it was based around some specifics, that's kind of cool.

"Liar's Poker" Trader, the real American Psycho?

That's pretty ridiculous. This story always stuck in my mind as the one where life imitates art wrt to American Psycho. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3931534/Hong-Kong-double-killer-Rurik-Jutting-romped-eight-prostitutes-400-night-hotel-suite.html

What would you say about a hedge fund that puts 40% of their capital in one stock?

Fwiw, I do also think large concentrated funds or trades are a bit silly for clients. Ackmans target fund is a example, if I'm a client, I'll just go out and buy calls on Target myself, no need to pay to have that structured in a fund. Yes, clients pay for the ideas, but also for the portfolio...

What would you say about a hedge fund that puts 40% of their capital in one stock?

It would be fine with me as long as it was consistent with their mandate and the reasons I chose to invest in the first place. ...if it's a large cap tech fund designed to trade with a similar vol to the index and now they're putting 40% on bitcoin to capitalize on next week's fork, I'd say...
