What is a good percentage annual return for a day trader?

The problem with this thread is that it depends on the amount traded. I am not just talking about the lack of need to earn high returns and take greater risks when you already have a lot of money. I am also speaking of hedging pressures (both legal and illegal) that do not scale linearly...

Who bought 4k MSFT puts on expiration day?

bucket shop? You can trade options on a cash account once daily with like 50 bucks... I figured it was some new guy and I was hoping he would close his position earlier in the day instead of riding it out. The illegitimate hedging pressure against his trade screwed my trade, MS would have...

Who bought 4k MSFT puts on expiration day?

Dude no. People with 20 billion don't put it in single positions. You don't know what you think you know. Some guy really just lost his shirt.

Market Making has a theoretical definition that is not "Screw Option Holders"

Game theory is when algorithms from different market makers communicate by sending test sells or buys, or the people in charge of them agree ahead of time not to do a shark frenzy sort of thing where they compete with each other such that none of them gets to collect a large profit and instead...

Market Making has a theoretical definition that is not "Screw Option Holders"

In layman terms, if a person buys a single share it should have the least impact possible on the price, and if a person buys the entire market's worth of shares the price should theoretically go to infinity. Any Marginal volume purchased should always be positively correlated with price...

.01 cent up on 500 shares traded, down 10 cents on 10,000 shares traded

All day long, multiple times a day, bringing the price of stocks to the Maximum Pain point every day. How could anyone think the market is not rigged? Yes I understand that with the limited info lvl 2 provides, 10000 shares could wipe out what you see on the order book on one side. All this...

Low volume price warps do not comprise legitimate market behavior

High frequency price fixing is done to capture options premiums and manipulate prices by stopping breakouts and selloffs and drifting the price to max pain level.

Option House just closed my position 30 min before it became profitable ON A >>>CASH<<< ONLY ACCOUNT

I've been living and dying by the sword my whole trading career, but this is the first time my broker screwed me out of 700% profit. The market does that well enough all by itself when some crazy news hits I didn't expect. I don't need the brokers who charge me commission doing it on top of...

Option House just closed my position 30 min before it became profitable ON A >>>CASH<<< ONLY ACCOUNT

No. If I sold them for .02 cents close to close because of a lack of bids it would be better than DNE or OH messing with my account either one.

Option House just closed my position 30 min before it became profitable ON A >>>CASH<<< ONLY ACCOUNT

    A) They sold the options for .02 anyways B) Selling for .02 is better than just a DNE regardless of moneyness C) Either one allows me to pursue trading strategies without OptionsHouse monkeying around in my account

Option House just closed my position 30 min before it became profitable ON A >>>CASH<<< ONLY ACCOUNT

Their argument is pure idiocy. We had to liquidate because they might go in the money and be exercised. We can't "DNE" (Do not exercise) because then they might go in the money and NOT be exercised. I am fine with the risk of them not being exercised after reaching expiration in the money...

Option House just closed my position 30 min before it became profitable ON A >>>CASH<<< ONLY ACCOUNT

    A) This is retarded. It implies the system isn't sophisticated enough to put a market sell at 3:59 to auto-execute. B) This is retarded. It is infinitely worse to have some optionshouse n00b trading on your account and ruining your trading strategy moments before it turns into a 700% profit...

Option House just closed my position 30 min before it became profitable ON A >>>CASH<<< ONLY ACCOUNT

Update, I Just got off the phone with some moron who admitted they sold the position and blatantly argued with me about it and then hung up on me. I have traded options on >CASH< accounts up until 4:00 on expiration day many many times on other brokers. This joker claims it was because of the...

Option House just closed my position 30 min before it became profitable ON A >>>CASH<<< ONLY ACCOUNT

They put a sell on my option contracts at .02 apparently to collect their piddly commission moments before the price of the options soared to .14 as I knew they would.

Maximum Pain Theory and High Frequency Order Spoofing.

It seems that people know about stock prices pinning to devalue expiring options, but do not understand how it could be done intentionally and not as a side effect of hedging. It's really simple. You have an order book with 2 sides. Within a certain time frame, market makers who are not...
