What do you focus on in price actions?

Depends on your strategy and its granularity. The more granular, the more important each component of a price bar becomes to really hone entries/exits, but if your strategy is more blunt (for lack of a better word), then general support/resistance (with maybe some general indicators overlaid) is...

Why should anyone feel bad for small businesses not being responsible

Mass self quarantining would still count as an exogenous shock to a system outside of normal business risk calculations, thus not constituting a failure of businesses to plan IMO. Some businesses inherent weaknesses may be exposed, but almost no one is prepared to shut down their small business...

Why should anyone feel bad for small businesses not being responsible

You're looking at it too simplistically, too binary if you will. It's not so black or white as you state. For instance, a business who is forced to close it's doors because of COVID via govt mandate, is not a failing business. There's an exogenous shock to the system which is not expected, and...

Why should anyone feel bad for small businesses not being responsible

It's because of the multiplier effect. Generally speaking, a small business likely employs multiple people, may involve multiple suppliers, subcontractors, other counter parties etc and therefore there is more collateral damage to a greater # of people/businesses when a small business runs into...

Does anyone daytrade ETF's for a living?

What kind of leverage are firms providing these days? About 10 yrs ago I was getting 100:1 (10k up, 1M in BP).

Does anyone daytrade ETF's for a living?

I actually tried somewhat unsuccessfully to scalp the ES. I had very good success in NYSE issues prior to automation of the exchange (2003-2007). My issue with the ES was the tick size coupled with low volatility. My thinking with the SPY is there is more granularity with penny spreads. I was...

Does anyone daytrade ETF's for a living?

Hi All- Curious if there are any traders out there (reading this board) who are daytrading the SPY, QQQ etc intraday successfully? Most of my trading contacts from the past are no longer in the game (or are managing family money from a longer term trading perspective) so I don't know anyone who...

    Back after several years...

Hi Occam- Truth be told, "Director" level at MS Ops is more akin to an AVP/VP role but regardless I'm responsible for managing a client service team from a team lead perspective (and I also cover large clients as well). "Executive Director" is more likely what most thought of when the read this...

Yes, I could tell I hit an awkward moment in the interview so I brought up my ET postings and I could feel an immediate attitude change :)

    Back after several years...

I met with 5 senior members over the course of two interview rounds so I believe, if you can articulate yourself well and draw parallels between what you used to do and what you will be currently responsible for, you'll have a good chance at being given a shot.

    Back after several years...

Well I did go back for an MBA, but yes I was surprised too. But I leveraged my past experiences and sold myself as capable of handling the position. My point was to show other traders who are looking to get back into a traditional work environment that it is possible.

    Back after several years...

I wanted to provide an update to this thread. I was fortunate to land a director level position at Morgan Stanley in OTC Client clearing. I just wanted to provide a little hope for those ex traders who feel that making a transition from trading is too difficult. Work your network and make your...

Moving Forward: Your Opinion of ET

This is a good idea, in my opinion.

The VERY best trader on ET that uses TA

The moment after price trades it's in the past. It's just in the very recent past. A lot of these discussions appear to be about semantics. That's just how I see it anyways.

    The best traders in ET

I haven't been active in a few years here but when I read her posts regarding reading price action, I can tell right away she's legit. It's great that ET still has a few valuable posters here.

    The best traders in ET

Anything worth doing is hard, in my opinion. She's very good at what she does and is very gracious with her wisdom. A rare combination.

    The best traders in ET

Yeah but I'm sure at your experience level, you only need to pull up a 5 minute chart and watch the level two/DOM for a few mins to get right back into the action.
