so many Traders are getting killed

That's why money management is paramount in trading. If you held "too long" you're not a professional trader; you're an amateur trader without a written trading plan.

    Stockcharts.com or Desktop Software?

Worden's sister company, The Blocks Company, LLC, released Blocks 3.1. The EOD data is free and provides scans as well. If you want Canadian stocks though it'll cost you $29.95 per month. I'm not sure why they're offering EOD for free since it competes with their paid version of TeleChart...

so many Traders are getting killed

That's not true. Prop firms have a finite amount of leverage to offer their traders so you don't get "all the leverage you want". And, along with that leverage, comes the responsibility of not losing money for the firm. Taxes do matter if you're making money though so why pay 100% short-term...

so many Traders are getting killed

Why would you switch from E-minis to stocks? Stocks have nowhere near the leverage of index futures nor the tax efficiency with short-term trades. Plus, you can watch one E-mini as opposed to 20 stocks.

    VectorVest . . . anyone?

Yes, I am very worried about you. Anyone who doesn't have the forethought to pick up the phone at a negligible cost to resolve their problems immediately does make me worry. Anyone who points the finger at a company without exhausting the lines of communication does make me worry. It's usually a...

    VectorVest . . . anyone?

I'm not sure why you just didn't pick up the phone and call the U.S. Rates on Skype from the UK to US are £ 0.014 per minute (including VAT). Have a quick ten minute phone call and resolve the issue. I've contacted customer service many times over the past half decade and have always gotten...

    VectorVest . . . anyone?

This is why I've been with VectorVest for five years -- and profited nicely. The customer service is very good (I think that's been proven with Dwayne's reply) and the software is amazing.

    Weird IB message...

Currently, the security device only prevents unauthorized withdrawals from within Account Management. It does nothing with logins to the trading platform right now.

    Weird IB message...

I'm a computer consultant and the IB rep was offering sound advice. It's not paranoid to layer your security measures. If someone hands you a security device to protect your entire portfolio then you take it and use it. You don't start debating about how you're "secure enough". There is no...

    Weird IB message...

The device is $150 if you're under $100,000 and free if you're over $100,000. I figured since it was free I might as well get it. Same goes for PayPal: it's $5 for the security device or free if you have a business account. I have a business account with PayPal so I got that one too.

    Weird IB message...

Thanks for posting. I'm glad to see IB is on top of it and I shouldn't see the message anymore. I've been using the security device for about a month now. I find it very useful. There are so many layers to IB's security I find it reassuring to know my money is protected about as well as it...

    Weird IB message...

This has been happening to me for the past week or so as well. I created a Trouble Ticket in IB's system this morning. I haven't heard back yet. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

When is it safe to upgrade to Vista?

You must still be on Windows 98 with that strategy. :D

    VectorVest . . . anyone?

I've been using VectorVest since 2003. The software is truly amazing but most of what I learned about how to properly use VectorVest didn't come from VectorVest. It came from the VectorVest monthly meetings I attend in Stamford, CT. I live in Central NJ and drive two hours each way for the...

    Empire of Debt

Empire of Debt was a very good book. Also, its cousin, Demise of the Dollar, was complementary. You might be able to get either or both books at the library.

My prediction for Monday Oct 2nd

I'm pretty sure Stock Trader's Almanac isn't always right. It might happen but saying it "will happen" is a recipe for disaster.

My prediction for Monday Oct 2nd

The only constructive idea I can come up with is that predictions don't work. Prices on charts are the only way to create a high probability outcome in trading.

    tc2007

I've been a TeleChart Platinum user since 2003. "Some" of the chat is good and other parts of it are just completely worthless. One of the best chat channels is FirstWave, which has 3,000 members. The ALL-TCNet chat channel leaves a lot to be desired. Peter Worden shows up there and that's worth...

    VectorVest

I paid $1.00 for it at a VectorVest seminar instead of the standard trial price. I made $1,100 profit on WHT, a recommendation from VectorVest ProGraphics 6.0, a few days ago. That paid for the $59 per month data feed for over a year. :) It also picked TRPH when it was $1.50 (it's now over $5)...

    VectorVest

You didn't mention which package you were looking for an opinion on: VectorVest ProGraphics or VectorVest ProTrader. I love the Teeny Bopper searches in ProGraphics (my latest big winner was WHT). ProTrader I don't use but it looks like any other technical analysis package (I like...
