    CME or Globex

I asked the most basic questions and some people tease me; that's fine. Better to get responses quickly here than flip through websites, etc. A few more ... 1) right now, the most active contract for daytrading is 3/03 NQ, (NQ'H) right? I saw charts for both December and March and March...

    Considering e-mini NASDAQ100 futures

I appreciate and agree with all your input. I know I should do the basic work myself, but with so many experts on Et, I thought it's simple enough to throw a question. Yes, one contract is it; that's what I was thinking.

    Considering e-mini NASDAQ100 futures

I might trade the mini NASDAQ100 contracts next year; I have less than $5,000. How many contracts can I daytrade? If I capture about 1% intraday move, how much (how many dollars) does that translate into? If the stop is 1/2%, how much loss would than mean per contract? Where can I go simply...

Wash-sale rule and the active trader

Currently I'm contemplating staying out of stock trades during January '03, so I don't have to bother with the wash-sale rule. What if I (I've never traded futures before but) trade mini NASDAQ 100 futures during January? Do I still run into the wash sale rule? Does it depend on what stocks...

Wash-sale rule and the active trader

The article mentioned seems to say that you just need to stay out all of December or the January of the following year; are you suggesting that I must stay out both December and January?

So how does one get these platforms? What are the requirements?

    Looking for Houston investors?

I never had more than about $10,000 in all my accounts, (I opened my first trading account-E-trade-with $2,000 three years ago.) and also had to rely on the small amount of money for living expenses. I never had huge amounts of anything all my life. I expect to work for huge amount of money...

    Ameritrade(Datek) Direct

I had similar experience (almost exact same) dealing with Datek, as several people who posted on this thread. Now I know that my experience was not isolated, individual incidents. Let them clean up their act, and convince people that they are a decent broker. You don't need to keep throwing...

    Datafeed and charting service

I asked a question about where to get cheap data service on another forum, and several people gave their opinions. One thing that I never understood, though often mentioned, was about using various datafeed for various charting service. For example, use IB data feed, Datek datafeed, etc. for...

Wash-sale rule and the active trader

This issue never became serious for me until this year ... You know about the wash-sale rule where if you buy or sell the same securities within 30 days-before or after-of the current transaction, you cannot immediately recognize ...blah, blah, blah ... It seems to me that if you trade...

Cheapest data I can buy for IB account

I have tentatively decided to open an IB account. I would need to get some data service. I generally trade only a few stocks at a time, and need 1) real-time data for the few stocks I trade 2) real-time intraday charting (tick by tick update) down to at least 5 minutes. 3)delayed Time/sales...

i-Routing, market order, and NITE executio

Many here say good things about IB, so I'll take them more seriously. For now, my problem is that I have very limited amount of money and can only fund one broker account. (I would like to have minimum 2 DAT accounts-with different clearing firms, and both with good phone back-up-, so that if...

i-Routing, market order, and NITE executio

Also ... I talked to another guy soon afterwards, and he told me that 17 seconds on market order is pretty quick, it could take up to 1 minute ...I will not comment on this ...but I remember talking to this guy before ...I had asked him about entering limit orders to CINN at down to the...

i-Routing, market order, and NITE executio

myTrack; after 1 month, I'm not exactly happy with them; but at the same time, I still think it was a good decision to get a software-based DAT broker (I was using Datek right before); I don't want to lose any time switching brokers. I'll stay with mT one more month, then I might switch to...

i-Routing, market order, and NITE executio

Yesterday, I opened a long position in NXTL, with a market order, using my broker's automatic routing. The order was routed to NITE and was filled quickly. But when I tried to close the position by Sell at Market, i-routing again, it was routed to NITE again, and took 17 second to fill...

    Looking for Houston investors?

I've been trading for 3 years; first starting with swing trading and pure intraday trading for about 6 months. I'm finally good at this to a point where I could make huge amount of money if I had even a small amount of capital. Right now I only have $5k, no other source of capital and really...

    myTrack, Ameritrade, IB

I have a small account and that's all the money I have. If I have a problem exiting a trade, and I can't reach Customer Service by phone, I'd be in trouble. IB seems to have the attitude that these are the risks of online trading. I'm thinking about opening an IB account, but have an...

    myTrack, Ameritrade, IB

I've used myTrack for a month and already I notice serious problems. Twice I was charged ECN fees when I was entitled to rebate. Then when I inquired about it, I got the following response. "In order to be eligible for the liquidity rebate, your order must be routed to the Track ECN...

    Newb question about SSFs

you better hedge the position with cheap, out-of-money options, (short SSF hedged with cheap OM calls, for example) to avoid wipeout. Sooner or later you will wipe out with that kind of leverage and no hedge. I'm a pure-daytrader, holding no o/n's. I've traded in Datek with the 4x buying...

    Newb question about SSFs

I would only daytrade SSF's; you don't want to hold SSF's overnight on 20% margin and see the stock gap 20% against you the next day. Commodities would rarely gap 20%, but stocks easily can. Right now I'm suffering under the PDT rule, so I hope SSF's get going quickly with sufficient liquidity.
