How to grab a pic of the screen?

The Print screen key will take a snapshot of your entire screen. If you are using multiple monitors it will capture all of them as your entire screen is all the monitors.

Van K. Tharp's Random Entry System

This is what makes the markets great. Many guys can have something laid out right in front of them and not see the picture.

    WHats going on with Andover?

Hmmm These questions are rather basic for somebody who has been here since December 2002? These discussions have been done over and over and over and over on these firms as Magna can easily point out.

Van K. Tharp's Random Entry System

Trend following systems usually do not have profit targets. Trends can last for quite a long time. That's the beauty of riding a winner than makes 30 times what your risked. You are exited usually by a trailing stop. Cut your losses short and let your winners run

The tide is turning for the specialists!!!

Actually as a poker player, I like the psychology of being at the tables when a tourist sits down with his girlfriend watching him play.

Van K. Tharp's Random Entry System

I'd rather not give away any edge by explaining any system that's short term. The more who play the less it pays. Most of the systems being talked about that have less than a 50% probablility are much longer term than intraday. They are usually for position traders as was the examples...

Van K. Tharp's Random Entry System

\ no the dollar amount is the same. $100,000 as an account balance example. Risking 1% would mean $1000 1R as Dr. Tharp uses. But a win of 20R , 30R or even 40R . Now if you risk $1000 and are wrong 20 different times you will be in a drawdown of 20% and have lost $20,000...

Van K. Tharp's Random Entry System

Yes in a system that produces the same positive results as losing results. But if your winners are much larger than your losers than you do not have to increase your size. If you lose 1/2 % each time but when you are right ie catch a trend you make 40% you come out ahead. What if...

    EchoTrade Reliability

A slightly different way of saying what you said above is.... Words carry a lot more weight when positive AND negative are both acknowledged. The negative ones should be acknowledged too. Than tell people how they are being addressed. So that the problem will no longer be a problem soon...

    Don's Openings, Part 6 2003

ok but now take the time to math the use $50,000 to generate $6k per month. The figure isn't compounding though. The larger your orders are the lower your probability of being filled. Trying to scalp a 20,000 lot isn't the same thing as a 2000 lot. So the ROI is much larger...

Can someone explain the secured prop leverage vs risk issue?

both sides are right. Arbitrage isn't without risk and leverage is a double edged sword. Can work heavily in your favor or against you heavily.A firm that has a lot of money as a wall of protection though isn't more safe if positions in the firm are allowed to go beyond the risk levels...

    Merger Arb Spreads

Price of the spread might have reflected the perceived risk of the deal not happening. Also not enough guys watching spread to take advantage of opportunity could be the case. GE/HON before it blew up had some premium. It sounds like you did the right thing.

Can someone explain the secured prop leverage vs risk issue?

There are many ways to use leverage. The big one that comes to mind is arbitrage. That's where you want to use much larger positions as your risk in a lot of arbitrage is very low. Running multiple systems at once that are not correlated Running automated systems that use a lot of...

    Perpetual NYSE Specialist Abuse

If you aren't getting price improvements .... well you aren't offering liquidity to the market by having orders sitting in the market. If a stock is trading at 35.50 and you are long 2000 shares at 35.06 If you were to offer some out at 35.65 35.73 and 35.83 well suppose the...
