Inexpensive PCIe display card to drive 4k monitor

Hello everybody. It's been a while! :) I am contemplating to get an inexpensive 39-inch 4k monitor for trading during the day and other things at night. I can pick one up for less than $400 now. http://www.amazon.com/Seiki-Digital-SE39UY04-39-Inch-Ultra/dp/B00DOPGO2G Does anyone know of an...

Are there any benefits to partitioning a hard disk drive?

The old days - disk partitioning as a way for: - Putting multiple operating systems (e.g. unix and Windows) on different partitions, same physical disk (or different versions of an OS)... a way of multiple OS boots on the same hardware. - Put quotas on disk usage per group in a company, makes...

Advice on Buying New Monitors (Sore Eyes)

Eye sore / eye strain may not be the result of monitor technologies. If they are not, changing out the monitors would not resolve your issue. Some common poor practice that likely stress your eyes (thus your brain): #) Exposed to bright background for prolonged period. A lot of the...

Trading Computer Network Connection / Safety

I echo that. Don't have a false sense of security. You think plugging your router/modem to a UPS and your internet connectivity can stay uninterrupted. It depends on how the electronic signals are transmitted from the ISP's office to you. Say the street power to your residence block is...

    Home setup with 4 monitors

Yeah. That's a great advice. I do have a mix of PNY 8400 GS versus EVGA 8400 GS on the same box. They worked together okay. The driver is provided by NVidia just the same. I also have cards PNY 8500GT and PNY 8400 GS side by side. They worked together okay. (But they are within the...

    Home setup with 4 monitors

I agree there... if one has a choice, go with DVI or HDMI. It can only be better than VGA. :)

    Home setup with 4 monitors

I am glad that you got that that configuration. I think it depends on the motherboard - computer manufacturer. For many that I purchased, even though the motherboard supports dual monitors (Intel HD graphics chip onboard the MoBo)... as soon as I plug in an external video card in one of the...

    Home setup with 4 monitors

Each video card needs the driver software from the manufacturer (e.g. Nvidia). Windows OS will go through the driver to manage the monitor position and display images across screens. No a problem.

    Home setup with 4 monitors

Hi Tonkadad: DVI is digital, and is supposed to have a better quality video image. All my 8400 GS cards have 1 VGA out and 1 DVI out. I use DVI cables whenever I can (provided that the monitor has a DVI in, and the DVI cable is long enough). The rest, VGA (either from the VGA port out...

Using SVGA extension cable, monitor info lost

Thanks for the link, TJ. That's educational. I knew from doing it that I would need a longer VGA cable (male to male) without going through an extension cable. Just didn't think some vendors will plug the 4 "unused" holes on the VGA specs.

    Home setup with 4 monitors

Well... I remember I bought my Apple II+ computer in college in the early 80's and it was over $2000, in 80's money. Today you can get an iphone for under $100, thousand times faster, a million times higher capacity, etc..

Using SVGA extension cable, monitor info lost

Dear monitor and video experts: I can't quite figure this out... From my 8400 GS video card (SVGA out) to my Samsung 23" SyncMaster monitor, using the vendor-provided 4' SVGA cable... no problem. Windows 7 recognized the monitor, plugged in the right driver, resolution 2048x1152 (the...

    Home setup with 4 monitors

Do you have 2 available PCIe X16 slots? Is there any reason you lean towards 1 card 4 monitors? This subject has been debated over and over again. For me: get 2 EVGA 8400 GS cards. $33 each, bought new. They are inexpensive. And they work. It's been 3 to 4 years and I have not...

Does anyone trade with the Dell XPS15 3200x1800 res laptop?

3200x1800 resolution on a 15.6" screen? Gotta be kidding. Can't see that fine a resolution = money wasted. Especially with charting. And with order status and price quote... text too small = easy to misplace orders. (Did you have 120 shares or 428 shares partial filled?) I use a laptop...
