    Drawdown Charts

Tradestation has charts that include DD for both backtest and executed trades. Multicharts has better DD charting (IMO). Tradervue is great as well.

How similar is a sim to live trading?

Hi - You are right to be skeptical. The platform mechanics are probably identical (depending on how you route orders) bu you wont see market impact or psychological impact in sim. You could try live trading with a fraction of the simulated amount and scale up as long as the model works and...

How do you organize your trading notes and material?

Hi Howard, I really like OneNote (comes with MS Office). It's got dedicated apps or a web version and you can make notebooks public (editable or read only). I just created a view only sample so you can check it out: https://1drv.ms/o/s!AoRCjOhApUjClVnx4vI68ADZrCSk Good luck! Alex

    What happened to Ed Seykota?

Ed is alive and well. I've spoken with him in the last month or so, he was in Austin and seemed happy to be there. He just launched a neat feature on his site to help people interested in TTP to connect. If you Google Puerto Rico + Acts 20 and 22. you might consider where you might like to...

    Mac Pro build for trading

I'll open with this: Apple Hardware is nice. It looks nice, it feels nice, is relatively high performing and it generally is nice to use because it is well integrated with the OS. Especially the laptops (at least older MacBook Air). I have owned a mac (an a pc) since the Lisa. I'm not an...

    MultiCharts + Tradovate

Tradovate have confirmed to me that they are able to integrate wi However I've also been told there is not sufficient interest for them to warrant them making the marketing related partner web pages MC requires... Maybe if there is enough interest here they will reconsider.

    MultiCharts + Tradovate

Yes, that is my understanding too. I just personally want MC so I can run easylanguage based strategies that are transaction cost sensitive. With enough interest Tradovate may be willing create the partnership pages that MC requires...

    MultiCharts + Tradovate

Tradovate might facilitate this with enough interest.

That would be cool as a home office "pod".

    Pictures of your trading stations

I used to sit in there with an EEG and tDCS strapped to my head while trading. I didn't want to be disturbed or viewed by people in the office other than certain colleagues. I came very close to having a float tank installed too... probably not a typical approach to workspace. I thought of it...

    Pictures of your trading stations

I tried an early 4k and found it to be illegible without tweaking settings. My colleague (in 2014) liked to monitor systems/markets from across the room like watching sports stats on a TV at a bar and it was reasonably good for that. I think things with 4k are way better now.

Skilled futures trader with history of discipline issues resolves issues and finally succeeds over t

When I'm trading with systems only, I end up watching systems all day long and feeling irritated that they give back profit or don't make more. When they lose I feel like I would have gotten out earlier. It's almost a competitive and agitated feeling. After watching them for a while I get a...

Mr. Scalp, I'm glad to have your feedback and notice that we have something in common: We both continue saying the same thing. ;) I'll post some basic stuff when I start to trade and want to provide context. Thank you.

Skilled futures trader with history of discipline issues resolves issues and finally succeeds over t

Here are some more informal "sketch" of a ideas that apply to discretionary trading and understanding why systems work/fail: "Directed intensity" I used this to track my passive/active behavior relative to pleasure/pain "Biases" were a couple from a list of well known biases that I immediately...

Skilled futures trader with history of discipline issues resolves issues and finally succeeds over t

I'll start posting some research/ sketches that explain the things I look at. Here is a very simple test to see if linear regression can provide any edge for mean reversion. I tested it on a few things using continuous data supplied by Tradestation/Portfolio Masetro and then ran a MonteCarlo...
