Anybody use a relatively cheap stock screener to help with your trading or do you just go out on a whim when your trading?

Are there any screens that go back 10 years instead of 5 years I have yet to find a good screen that allows me to check the 10 year history of a company.

Ok to clear up what i am asking is this, what techinques are used inorder to find the intrinsic value of securities in hopes of finding investments that are worth more then the current market value.

Does that apply to long term investing to, like what mr. buffett looks for?

Is there something you look for to determine if a stock is undervalued?

Currently i am a college freshman who knows very little about the stock market and trading, what should i do to gain the knowledge i need to start trading?

I am new to all of this, but what can you do to determine whether a stock is under valued?. And what is valuable when you dig into a companies spread sheet.
