    Tax dilemma:

the securities purchased total though, right? If they check my securities purchased versus my securities sold in 2002 only, they will think I made $20,000 more than I did. If the IRS didn't check on "securities purchased", then people could easily understate their profits.......

    Tax dilemma:

Anyone have a trade where they bought on the last day of 2001 and sold on the first day of 2002? I have a few, so my form 1099 sent by my broker calculates my "securities sold" minus my "securities purchased" about $20,000 higher than it should be (doesn't post the buy from 2001). Any ideas...

Best places to live for starting traders:

firms in Las Vegas. Bright, ECHO.......any others? I'd rather move to Vegas or Ft. Lauderdale and pay zero taxes than live anywhere else and take a "pay cut" in taxes. Of course this may only be true for a young single person who can move about and has no children/house yet.

Best places to live for starting traders:

Just read the "State Income Tax" thread started here. I've moved a few times for just that reason. Seems there are really great areas to live for a beginning trader, financially. I'm currently planning a move to Las Vegas soon, and would think it would be very easy to start a small...

Loved that poker/trading piece on CNBC today

Anyone else catch the 2002 WSOP champ as well as the author of "Poker Nation" on Power Lunch today? There are so many similarities between being a great poker player and being a great trader (control emotions, selective aggression, minimize losses, know when your beat and get out) NST

    Who ARE You???

Please don't take this the wrong way, I am just curious....... I would assume that someone who offers his mentoring services for up to $300 an hour (as on your RT site) must be a pretty damn great trader. As such a great trader, you must make substantial income trading. Why would a great...

Trading and playing poker have alot

of similarities. The mental discipline and money management principles are basically the same. Stay out until you have an edge. This takes extreme discipline, as most traders/players will get bored and take a trade/enter a pot out of bordem when they shouldn't, and lose. When you have an...

    Home alone vs office

a web site or a link off a web site devoted to a "trader network" across the country, let me know. I'd be happy to help. I've tried to do it off my web site, but it never took off. Probably because I have no web development skills, and the pop-up ads on my cheesy site annoy people. NST

    Home alone vs office

Why trade from a prop office? Commute is a hassle, fees are usually higher (if your using your own capital), and successful traders there likely would not share prized methods. Even if they did, you likely wouldn't be able to emulate them (eveyone trades based their own personalty structure).

    How many traders here actually

Most traders trade out of prop firms, very few ever try doing it out of their house. Seems to me there is a whole different psychology involved.

person who likes to start fights. I could care less what Bonehead thinks. I stated I don't want to start a fund for 10-15 years, does that sound like a plea for capital? I actually look at people who try to raise capital, or sell a "system", as traders whom can't sufficently trade their own...
