What to really do with opens like today?

Your question is not well focused. It depends on what you are trading. Not all stocks/futures/instruments went the same direction or even moved. The futures shot down this morning in a semi-relentless sell off. It didn't provide any setups that I saw. (Although there was a good sell...

    SPY Not-Easy-To-Borrow at TradeStation

It's *close* to the same thing... except that it's 2x leverage (something you hinted at) and, as those who have been trading these funds on a regular basis will tell you, they don't correlate 100%.

    SPY Not-Easy-To-Borrow at TradeStation

Um... no. I'm going to preface my opinion with the fact that I never trade those etf's directly. I only trade their options... but. If my broker was unable to make shares available to short on the most liquid stocks EVER I would kick them to the curb.

    Gas Prices 1.61 in Oklahoma!

It may, but not over the short term. People will not quickly forget the pain they experienced when gas was $4.50+ a gallon.

i will be looking at JEC today

First off, why are you posting this? I don't really care, but I think you should think about it. Secondly, nothing about that stock's chart indicates that it's a buy. Do yourself a favor, fade yourself. Sell it instead. Since I see that you clearly need better stocks to trade how about...

Robert Kiyosaki now teaches people to "trade"

It's not that he's completely ignorant or that all of his advice is worthless. He's not, and it's not. But most of books are pretty vacuous. Regarding the above quote, large libraries are for people who need books around to make themselves feel smart as if they could absorb and remember the...

Paulson, Bernake, etc all make a lot of money too. Does that mean that they are doing something right?

How to be proficient in options

I strongly recommend opening an account at ThinkOrSwim. Their option trading tools are great especially when learning & analyzing possible trades and their outcomes. If nothing else at least sign up for a paper trading account with them and download the software.

Exploit Wide Spreads on Corn Options?

Arb is certainly possible if you can hedge against a position in the underlying contract. But if you are thinking of just trading the options and narrowing the spread then you're gonna have a hard time since you'll just be trading against the Market Maker. Spreads are wide for a reason...

    seeking lowest CL daytrade margin

Don't be a fool. Don't trade anything unless you can put up the full margin for each contract you trade. Margins are not your problem. capitalization is.

    Good Web Broker?

Find a broker with a JAVA based trading interface. Java is usually permitted at most companies. A couple I know of are IB & ThinkOrSwim. I have used both but recommend the ThinkOrSwim. As far as shares to short.... I don't short much and suggest that you take a look at options.. but don't...

    I sold 1 ES at 944 at 15:56:04..WHY did I get out :08 seconds later!!!!!!!argh!!!!

Dude you are way out of your league. If $20 profit looks good then you're insane to trade the heavily leveraged eminis.

IB trashes account - what would TOS do?

I've had a TOS account for about 6 months now. I've been assigned multiple times. Every time I received an email before market open. Additionally, since I was in a vertical spread their software was intelligent enough not to liquidate my positions even though I was assigned stock who's margin...

Ditto Ditto Ditto! I've done it to myself so many times it's ridiculous. Unless you have at LEAST 5k in an account you will probably get killed.

    Citi bank

False. If you hadn't noticed we are, perhaps, in the biggest bank debacle ever, buying these securities is madness, even for a scalp. Short Selling on the other hand is also still risky, but I think, a bit less.

TRADE ALERT - Buy RIMM Oct 2008 105.00 calls

False. It's a bear market. There is a lot of fear EVERYWHERE. Stocks don't go up on fear. The risk profile is NOT good for a reverse market climate trade. For christ's sake, he was hoping for an earnings surprise at the beginning of a Bear Market. WTF. Bulls got their run from 2003 -...
