Milton Friedman spoke to this point. In conjunction with free markets you have to have rule of law. Rule of includes strong protection of private property and protection against fraud. You will be surprised how an expansive view of fraud will curb quick and easy illegitimate profits.

on ET. :D I happen to be interested in this particular situation why the spinoff news was not favorably received. There is a reason which some analyst knows especially with hindsight instead of nonsense about more favorable opportunities causing a 20% drop in 10 days.

It is not trading x the spinoff. Lack of trust is a possibility, whatever that suggests. However, it is rare that spinoffs are viewed negatively.

After announcing the spinoffs GE is down 20% from its intra day high. Why?

One year the Venezuelan stock was #1 up in the world. Some day the US will be up #1 in the world. Venezuela was #1 when the peso collapsed from hyperinflation. Of course in dollar terms it was a loser. When the $US repeats that hyperinflation scenario, they will also be #1.
