I've signed up with Al Brook's Price Action course

No worries. I'm not a student of either Brooks or you, but as you said you had no secrets I was just curious as I expect everyone who's mentoring/teaching others to have good results. Trading ES myself I'm curious what others are taking from this market.

I've signed up with Al Brook's Price Action course

I don't think you were the subject of this discussion either. :) But I'll bite if you have no secrets. How many ES points do you typically capture on a daily/weekly basis? Yearly % return on capital? If you don't want to answer - that's fine too...

I've signed up with Al Brook's Price Action course

The claim was that it didn't matter if the coach was profitable or not. That was the claim I disagreed with. If it doesn't matter if a coach is profitable or not - then everyone could start coaching. There's plenty of educators and writers on ET who's not themselves profitable, yet insist on...

I've signed up with Al Brook's Price Action course

Trust me. If they were impressive he would most likely not be an educator, but if so, he would flaunt them. Logical, isn’t it?

I've signed up with Al Brook's Price Action course

If you’re not yourself successful you’re not likely to make other people successful teaching your own concepts which didn’t craft your own success. I don’t think the parallell with coaches and athletes is applicable in trading. I’m not saying there’s not value in what Al teaches, but I...

If markets were random why then does volatiliy spike at certains of the day (illustration inside)

I may have missed the point. Yes. But the player exiting may not have an opinion about future direction following his exit.

If markets were random why then does volatiliy spike at certains of the day (illustration inside)

There are many players in the market who do not care about direction. Your entry on a day trade long may offset the hedge of the portfolio of another player or the exit of a profitable long term trade.

If markets were random why then does volatiliy spike at certains of the day (illustration inside)

Markets are not random. But just because they're not random does not mean they're (easily) predictable either. In order to make valid predictions you need to assemble and gather the relevant data. This is your starting point.

    Randomness And Trading

There's runs and trends in random processes, too. Simple trend-following systems are only profitable if there's a strong trend present which persists after your lagging entry and usually it's associated with periods of large drawdown. In periods of rangebound action you will usually get...

I'm looking for a /ES mentor -and i'll give you half my profits for 2yrs.

Surely ES have been plenty volatile for this entire year and last year, too? Volatility can be a two-edged sword, too. I know a trader who found the ES to be far too volatile and finally became profitable after he started trading bonds.

I'm looking for a /ES mentor -and i'll give you half my profits for 2yrs.

No profitable trader worth learning from would be interested in such an agreement with a stranger.

Jim Simons speaks on his big picture ideas

Regarding secrecy, the interview with D.E. Shaw in one of Schwager's books was quite interesting. He wouldn't even divulge what they didn't do as he felt it yielded their competitors an unfair advantage.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Most days are not a market crash just as most days are not Outside Days. It's just your regular up and down in various sizes. But as far as Outside Days goes - yesterday was nothing special. We've had at least 10 days very similar to this one over the last 7 years or so. The last one being the...

How do you trade: one setup or one product?

Category 2. ES. Buy low and sell high. Category 1 seems more suitable for swing trading.

    Am I Wasting My Time?

I suppose it all boils down to how you define progress/moving forward. :) My point is that it's easy to discover something (either a specific technique or guru), become enthusiastic and really feel you're moving forward - only to later on discover it was a dead end. Of course - learning...

    Am I Wasting My Time?

Specifically - what is the opposite? :) And since you found the 'opposite to be true' - does it follow from that that you found something which was easier? If so, what then? What does efficient mean? In practical terms? ES/SPY moves substantially on a daily basis, yes? Does not a wider...
