The original caveat still stands: assuming the market isn't doing anything too hooky.

It takes a few minutes for sure, you might lose a couple of ticks, you can't expect great fills every time, it requires accepting some risk, but I do this size regularly. I'm not scalping.

I think you can trade 20 lots in a go most of the time. It's certainly possible to trade 200 lots at the same price over a few minutes, assuming the market isn't doing anything too hooky.

    EurexUS, will it work?

Tend to agree with the sentiment of the above. (Inspite of the fact that EUREX / CBOT 10yrs are not fungible, thus making a changeover for instituitional positions tricky at rollover time.)

Is anyone out there trading opening range breakouts on the European stock indices? Too bad I can't seem to hang onto these trades long enough for a MOC... Time to review my stop policy. (Intraday breaks of intraday lows have been useful recently. Any once else got a view on this?)

Seeing as the political arena here at Elitetrader is slightly to the right of Attila the Hun and animated by people who don't know what a passport is, lets change slant to music. Found a great website the other day. It operates on a shareware basis and lists a lot of good stuff. Drop Trio...

You're -absolutely- right. Strange thing is... this is what one aims for / I aimed for when starting out!!! The treachery of experience over ambition.... Plenty of people have done it though. And maybe stranger, some of them have come back to the markets. Because they miss a sense of...

risk reward i guess. good basic, good prospect for upside, relatively stable job, perks, employment mobility versus doing it all on your own, possibly freezing yourself out of the job market. some props do indeed go down the trade by yourself route, setting up as an embryonic discretionary...

bank traders will often trade flow, as well as their own outright punts on direction. a good example of this would be the fx trader who gets a position given to him by his salesman. if he likes the customer's idea and knows/likes the strategy behind it, he might put a smaller trade on himself in...

Noxqss, With due respect you are comically off the mark. Investment banks don't back independent traders or cater for them at all. They couldn't care less about locals. From a capital markets perspective, they're more interested in structuring $1.5bn EURUSD option deals for the likes of...

GNI was bought by MAN Financial last year. Not sure what the implication was for GNI touch - was it all that succesful in the first place? I don't know anyone that used (uses?) it.
