Question about Tradestation 2000i under Win7

yep, I remember that check I made out for $2700. ts2000i "sorta worked". but it was hugely unreliable. And it had a fatal flaw for system trading: no ability to determine which exits or entries were triggered in a complex system with multiple entries/exits. That was a killer. Multicharts has...

Does wealth solve all your problems?

Agreed...and Steve Jobs witnessed this first-hand...but : "Wealth simply gives you more options for solving your problems." that's the "upside".

All of this explains the recent Occupy riots in the USA. America is "on the ropes" economically.

Question about Tradestation 2000i under Win7

It can be done as was quoted in this post....but please, PLEASE heed the warning and move to Multicharts: And please, please see my recent posts regarding the Cruz Bros. and how they survived only by screwing their existing customer base knowing that ts2000i could not be repaired.

    There Are Jobs

Suddenly, those really expensive college educations look like a poor investment, don't they ? If you are in IT today, even with an advanced degree, you are struggling to make $100k.

Recession Officially Over, U.S. Incomes Kept Falling

Yes, the pattern would seem to call for a spike UP. But these are extraordinary conditions, so forget past patterns. We're likely to just keep going down albeit at a slower pace. Population is going up, jobs are not.

    Excel Trading right from Spreadsheet?

You'll need a data source (server) that supports DDE or ActiveX. Interactive Brokers supports both techniques. Excel is a little dicey for handling trades. It's way too easy to make a mistake typing into a cell. Best to add forms using VBA.

Recession Officially Over, U.S. Incomes Kept Falling

NOT adjusted for inflation. 25 years ago, the cost of hiring a lawyer was 4x my salary. Now it's 8x. I have to work 8 days to pay for 1 day of legal work.

The Dark Side Of Steve Jobs

And that's fine....but the question then becomes: How much of an asshole does one have to be to become successful ? That's the BIG ONE. Do some have to become big a-holes because they are lacking in talent ? Whoa....now I've opened up a can of worms...haven't I ? I am not suggesting that...

The Dark Side Of Steve Jobs

Exactly. I saw his abusive side when they filmed him chastising that programmer over some code he had written....."Is that the best you can do, he exclaimed ?" This guy was driven beyond reason....and who can say that it was bad given the incredible value he produced ? I mean I don't really...

TWS and Excel - how fast get list of combo ?

I think you meant to say "insanely slow". Anyway, there definitely is a way to do this. It'll take a little work, but I believe you can transfer the symbols for the options over to the Excel workbook pretty easily.

Recession Officially Over, U.S. Incomes Kept Falling

That income curve is largely due to outsourcing and H1B visa insourcing. I just got a job offer at a salary I had received 25 years ago. Of course, I'm in IT where it's the pits and I'm competing against a million "mudmen" from India.

    Language for automated trading system

And that's the key: ALL One programmer alone cannot create a robust trading platform IMHO. You've got: 1) trade/position management 2) order entry 3) data feed interface 4) backtesting 5) trade statistics I mean WOW, when Tradestation went from TS4 to TS2000i....all done in C++, it was...

    Is Trading Just Guessing?

Be careful with this....don't imply that close stops are going to make you a great trader. Instead, you are likely just to start losing a little...very consistently. Stop placement I think is the real trick to this game.

    Post your equity curve

I didn't see the time periods on that chart...I'll assume the X-Axis was simply the trade number. Did you attempt to analyze the market conditions which caused the side-ways condition in 2004 ? Really good systems can make themselves adapt to market conditions.
