Series 7, Why is it required?

Because as a prop trader your are not a "Customer"... You are a "Registered Person" and part of the US Securities Industry. Unlike Customers... Every Registered Person must have no criminal record... Especially for securities related stuff... And take the Series 7... Which teaches you...

$52k gone from my IB account. What next, sue IB?

    (1) How many times/day day do you "double-click" your mouse to accomplish routine tasks? (2) Define a "double-click" in legal terms. (3) Have you ever sent a "double order" by double-clicking? It's never happened to me in 600K manual orders. (4) Any US broker-dealer trading platform...
  3. Q

Question for those with more than $100,000 in their accounts.

You are right... But SIPC steps in ONLY if a US broker-dealer fails and cannot cover Customer accounts. ONLY retail Customer accounts are covered... So if you have ANY type of "partnership" arrangement... You can only sue via the US court system. There are 5,000 US broker-dealers...

$52k gone from my IB account. What next, sue IB?

IBj: "clicked submit for the basket twice in very rapid succession" (1) Double-clicking with a mouse is universal behavior... People double-click 1,000,000 times per day. (2) After entering perhaps 600,000 orders via TWS... I'm not aware of any way that I can send a Double Order by...

Why to short the Canadian Dollar

Is there any actual PROOF... That this acts as a contrarian indicator... Or do people just assume these things. Since a smart high school student... Could prove or disprove your assertion in about 2 hours... It's hard to see how this could be of any value either way.
  6. Q

Successful traders keep silent because trading is so simple...

You pirate Dell XP CDs through ET to survive... And you dream of idiots paying you to "teach them to trade"? The perfect conclusion to a truly surreal thread.

    Would IB suit this purpose?

IB is probably the most financially stable broker in the world. With profit margins of 50%... And a very conservative business model... Not much can go wrong.

the 411 about charging for cancelling limit orders

There's 2 problems with unlimited order entry... And we are really ONLY talking about automated Black Box orders... Because you cannot enter orders fast enough manually to be a problem. (1) Bandwidth abuse. (2) Market manipulation via order entry algorithms. ANY ** intent ** to...
  10. Q

the 411 about charging for cancelling limit orders

Not a bad idea. There are lots of orders entered that are unfillable... And lots of black boxes trying to SPOOF the market with excessive order entry and order manipulation. Since I probably get some kind of fill on 20-25% of my Limit Orders... And cancel 800-900/day unfilled... It...

Two 15 year successful day traders, why is one protective and other Isn't

They isn't a single thing in your 27 posts... That would indicate that you are, in fact, a Pro Trader... Let alone a successful one. It took me about 90 seconds to skim all of them. But don't worry... You can fool most of the people here most of the time.
  12. Q

Know when you are turning PRO

It started with your trite, nonsensical post. I would define a Pro Trader... As someone who consistently makes as much money as an engineer or accountant... > 60-70K/year... Because that is your Opportunity Cost. Anyone making $10-20K or in that range... Is not a professional... But...
  13. Q

Two 15 year successful day traders, why is one protective and other Isn't

First of all... NO ONE running a successful trading business has time to "teach"... Unless their are hiring... So the basic premise of this thread is BS. People may talk or promote themselves... In the hope of finding investors... Or just to inflate their ego... And even be very open...
