This bull mkt ends with China's bubble

    Short Covering Rally?

The question is... Even if this were a secular bear market.. I know for a fact many people just want to be right in their macro analysis and will get their a** handed because they don't know jack about money management. How many were right at the wrong time in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and got wiped...

    How to hedge the $USD?

You are charged the ANNUAL INTEREST rate differential between the currency you're short and the one you're long. I am not sure what the carry is between CAD and USD but I doubt it's not 6% annually and definitely not MONTHLY! Of course, it can also mean you could receive interest depending on...

Faber sees bull run ending as recession looms for US

Probably a small recession could be healthy, clearing out excess speculation and also weak participants/companies across all industries. The thing is IMO - just like inflation - once you are in a recession it's extremely hard to get out of it, once it starts feeding on itself. I guess the US...

Faber sees bull run ending as recession looms for US

I didn't know Faber is now a famous super rich investor. I'd count Rogers in but not Faber, not by a longshot. Faber is on Bloomberg on ever 5% SP500 dip in the last 5 years and I heard him say the same sentences every time, in his custom Swiss accent: - "Well, I can very well imagine we...

    Short Covering Rally?

We're in a secular bear market, anybody long is delusional, anybody staying short will be rewarded. Many millionaires will be made in the next downswing and it won't be on the long side. :p

    How to hedge the $USD?

No. Most brokers use 1:50 margin for forex. So shorting $35k worth of USD will use 2% margin = $700 margin.

    Short Covering Rally?

Of course this is just light volume short covering, I am staying short 200% in all my accounts. No stops needed, this market is done and will shed 80% till Spring 2008. Risk free $$$ just gotta have the balls to collect it.

    Inflation just 2%?

If you're so much smarter than the market, why not just short TIPs? You'll make a fortune if you're right and inflation expectations are grossly understated!

    Inflation just 2%?

Oh now it's the Chinese manipulating US inflation? Reading ET, I always thought the US government manipulates and intentionally under reports inflation alone. Maybe the FED and Chinese entered a secret pact

Satyajit Das:Bear Market of epic Proportions

So when does a mediocre trade like myself spot the once in a lifetime chance to finally get rich shorting American stocks? When we're down 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%? When do I know "this is armageddon finally" and go all out short and just sit on my shorts for a year or two without stops and watch...
