    "Woulda, Shoulda, Coulda!"

My two favorites: Bought 2000 shares V on IPO day for around 59.00, intending to hold the position long-term. Saw $7000-ish showing green a day or two later and sold the whole position. Less than 2 months later V hit 89.00. In May 2008, BRL stock tanked over some news and the reaction...

how do you keep emotions out of trading?

Rashid, yes, leaving the room is the Holy Grail of trading! The critical thing, though, is that you actually PUT ON THE TRADE before leaving. You can't see a setup forming, think "I'll just step away for a moment and then get this trade on in a minute". That guarantees the move will take...

    A mini ES scalper's journal

Bighog posted a fantastic description of the psychology behind crowd sentiment and trend continuation, which as I look at the day's chart describes today to a T from the pivot low. (I almost jumped in when the pivot low found support, but had to attend to some things today and since I wouldn't...

It's at the end of the trading day when he jumps up and down and yells, "Yes!!!"

Taking 410K to 4million by Year End 2010

Neke what would make him ask that? For the record, I just put on a large NEKE Dec 2,000,000 call position. I apologize for betting short of your goal, but I need to honor my risk management rules :D

how do you keep emotions out of trading?

I've been fighting the same problem for months now, with very few exceptions. But today I had my best trade in 10 months. Made $1195 on a single 500-share trade, letting a winner run nearly the whole way. How did this happen? 5 seconds after I put on the trade and put in my stop, we had...

    A mini ES scalper's journal

I think it's most difficult to avoid trading during these low probability times when you miss a strong set of opportunities during the first 1-2 hours, which is when most of large moves take place. If I miss a great opportunity because I step away for a break, or I hesitate to put on a trade...

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

+$1199 What an interesting day that hopefully taught me a lesson. I only sim traded from the open because I was bound and determined to learn how to manage my trades properly without cutting my profits short and letting my losers go full throttle. Once I felt confident in myself, I was ready...

    Trader P/L 2010

+ $1199 A very frustrating power outage taught me what happens when you let a winner run. Calling it a day, kids.

    Wealthy Option Traders

As I recall Ben subscribed to a service that suggested option trades just before earnings. I found it surprising how accurate the calls were, considering that even if you have a strong feel for whether earnings will beat or miss, there's no way to predict how the market will respond, because the...

Grinding it out, day after day

Do you mainly trade this strategy with-trend or counter-trend? (I've always thought of RTM as a counter-trend strat but can see how it can be used with-trend as well). Or do you look for situations where price has been steadily swinging in a range and play from the range extremes? Also...

    Riding Winners

To be fair I should qualify my last response to this. If I'm jumping into a momentum trade, such as shorting a strong breakdown on volume, the trade is immediately profitable and I always place my stop at b/e right away. This works every time, but that's because of the nature of the price action...

Its earnings season--market ready to decline

Yes, it can go much higher. Prices are rising based on hope for future growth, and the fact that nothing else is providing a decent return on investment.

    NoDoji's Day Trading Log

Thanks, that makes sense. I've sim traded NQ very briefly, and I did like it. Really no reason why I couldn't trade NQ instead of ES other than I have all my ES charts in various time frames set up to my liking and arranged nicely on my screens.
