    Oops sort of wild today

You're in the game long enough to know that options expiration shows weird trading patterns. Why trade on OE when you know it goes against you by design?

A big 5%+ down day is way overdue

You did an awesome job... you got the longs out at the exact low of the day yesterday. Now the ES is 75 handles higher.

    What Happen At Futures ?????

Not sure what's going on but it better be huge.

What stock is the best value right here after this pullback?

I'd be careful with anything oil/gas/mining/basic materials for anything else than a short term bounce play. These things got trashed 20, 30, 40%. It will take them months and month to re-build a solid base and come back.

Berkshire Hathaway Loads Up On Financial Stocks

And apart from that, he despises dishonesty in business and greedy managers and so far - knock on wood - has never been involved in anything fish like options scandals, cooked up balance sheets or insider transactions. Oh, and he donates most of his money to charity to help the poor get better...

If US markets correct/crash, buy dollar forget gold?

Always a question for how long. Holding JPY long costs money, a lot of money.

HFRI: Hedge Funds +0.45% for July, +7.95% YTD

You run your own fund? Or you mean you got your NAV reports for funds you're invested in? I have investments in a few FOFs and they're down between 0.4 and 0.8% through Aug. 10 and were up 0.5-1% in July. Of course, this week and the rest of the month can potentially add a lot of pain.

HFRI: Hedge Funds +0.45% for July, +7.95% YTD

Sorry, but I was only able to post July 31 NAVs. Next time I will try to post future NAVs 2-3 months out.

HFRI: Hedge Funds +0.45% for July, +7.95% YTD

Investable HF indexes are not used for benchmarking HF performance, as they only represent a fraction of the entire Hedge Fund universe.

    Now up 0.6%

August will probably be a 1-2% down month though: http://www.finalternatives.com/node/2330 HFRI Shows Quiet July August 16, 2007 Hedge Fund Research’s HFRI Fund Weighted Composite Index posted positive returns for July in spite of the subprime mess and sinking equities markets...

    Short DAX at 7740

Nice range in the DAX, was that just like 100 points in 25 minutes?

The US to open higher Sorry!!

Careful, it's OE and these are usually both narrow range days, unpredictable price moves and gap ups/downs have a statistical bias to be faded. But yea, right now Europe is recovering nicely.

    Bull Ran away from Asia!!

Eurostoxx50 down 0.3% on my screen so far in the opening hour. Let's see how it goes from here.

Berkshire Hathaway Loads Up On Financial Stocks

Looks like that moron still outperformed the SP500 by a cool 100% over the last 10 years, including one of the most vicious bear markets in history.

Oanda: Can you login to your FXTRADE?

It won't login for me, their whole servers seems to have broken down or is this only on my end? Also, I see (4:40pm EST) huge spreads marked with "news event", e.g. NZD/USD 20 pips, GBP/JPY 11 pips etc.

    Never see such bloody day

4 months of +2% in a row is now called an unsustainable parabolic upward move? And 10% down moves are now market crashes and the end of the world? The markets I know have two directions, this is just how it goes.

    Renaissance Technologies down 25 % ??

No, sorry I don't have delusional friends that claim Simons has been writing naked puts for 10 years.
