Dealing with coworkers who has poor money management skills

A good way to minimize unwanted intrusions is to always need (or have) what they want from you. The guy calling on the phone, soliciting for rug cleaning or a new roof? "Gee, I wish you had called last week. I just did that!" The guy asking for the 20 buck loan? "Gee, I was just going...

Dealing with coworkers who has poor money management skills

--------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from nutmeg: Pour moi, $20 is a fair price to buy back an introduction. If they don't pay it back, no harm no foul, saves me the trouble of ever having to deal with them or saying "Hello" for that matter...

    Weird can anybody explain?

A better idea for you would be to buy both the puts and the calls. That way, no matter which way the market moves or how much IV changes, odds are that you'll make some money on one side. You can then call the losing side a learning experience :D

    Is this strategy possible?

This strategy may look attractive but it's not.

    Explain Options Delta

How it makes money depends on whether you're long or short delta but in general, it makes money from reversals in the position as well as IV change in your favor. It's appropriate to close out the position when IV is moving against you. Do a web search on "delta neutral" and you'll...

    Can you beat buy&hold?

If you could double your account in a year but you had to make 1,000 trades, would you do it? That's 4 per day. Or are the rules more important? And if somehow you did that once, how many YEARS of buy & hold would that beat? Or maybe decades?

    Explain Options Delta

Reasons for discrepancy: 1) Last trade occurred earlier in the day at a different underlying price 2) Wide B/A spread makes daily change look larger or smaller 3) Change in implied volatility 4) And once in awhile, bad quotes ala Yahoo :)

10% per month with options ?

This is a great idea! I'm offering a newsletter as well as managed account advice. Since I've never done either, name your price - I'll accept it. And for those interested in collector's items, available inventory items include the TV I watched the '87 crash on, the pen I signed my margin...

Deep ITM Call Writing for Dividend Capture

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure if it was just a CC. The spread talk confused me. Gimme a few extra hours of sleep and I can comprehend :) Chances are, the option's B/A spread isn't narrow. If the natural cost is $2.60, I'd put an order in for $2.55 and maybe you get lucky...

    "Working alone" when trading...

A few years ago I traded pre-market news and for that hour and a half I was on speaker phone with another trader as we scanned market news for potential movers. Not really a discussion of what to do but another pair of eyes seeking possible movers. Each decided what trade to take. Four eyes...

Income trading in the current market environment

I have 2 answers for you. Managing to eke out a small but stressful profit last month (with adjustments) in a rough period is not a bad thing and is not a reason to abandon a bread and butter strategy. If that's the worst thing that happens, you're golden. OTOH, I would take some time...

Schedule D Tax Reporting for Options Trades

I use Tradelog to prepare my Sched D because I make a LOT of trades (mostly equity). I scale positions up and down which inadvertently creates a lot of meaningless wash sales which are a royal headache to calculate properly. There is an annual fee and the amount depends on the number of trades...

10% per month with options ?

In the real world it's very possible achieve a 5% gain on account value (per month) for a period of time. Perhaps 6 months, a year, even two. But in order to do so you're going to need a Black Swan like '07 to '08 and then a bull at your back like '09. But it's not going to happen with...

    Some criticism please

If you do more than 3 margin day trades in 5 market days and the # of them is more than 6% of your total tradies in that time period then you're designated a "Pattern Day Trader" and must have 25g of equity in your account. Google "Pattern Day trader" for add'l info.

    Some criticism please

With straddles, timing is everything. If you get a $20 move quickly, you make 4-6 pts. If it takes a few weeks, you lose money. Add an IV contraction and your timing had better be very good.
