Question about first steps to take

The NYTimes wrote an article in the early 80's that talked about how the NASDAQ OTC market was horrible for investors. They were right, but the example they gave showed me they do not understand the business. They said the customer bought $10,000 worth of a stock and needed the money a week...

Question about first steps to take

I started on the AMEX floor in 1982 as an option wire clerk for institutional accounts. Then a floor broker for the same company. In 1985 at 24 years old I leased a AMEX index seat and started my option trading business with my own BD. I eventually bought my own seat and split 2 others with...

Question about first steps to take

May I see a study from a reputable source? A made-up statistic. Who do you think has seen the real P/L of more traders, me or you? Over and over in Elite Trader, I see traders tell others they can't make money at something they or their friends had trouble with. Trading is trading. A good...

Question about first steps to take

You schooling level is not relevant but your ability to learn will be. If you will only trade indexes, I suggest you learn futures instead. https://www.cmegroup.com/education.html Start with paper trading then the smaller Micro contracts when ready.

    Trading Technologies (TT) Outages

pragunameriya33, I too am sorry you had this issue, but it can happen to any software. In the future, I suggest you create a Firmsoft login at the CME. With this, you would be able to cancel open orders yourself and view open and filled orders. I have never used it but this is what it is for...

When P-C parity does not hold

No, I do not. Your definition is different than mine and I'm not interested in this debate anymore. If you can't easily make money from it, the prices are correct.

How do Prop Firms Prevent a Trader from Blowing an Account?

OK. Well, we offer TT but do not have anyone using it. I'll let the TT rep confirm and now I'll change my comment to be more clear. IN MY OPINION, if you are hiring traders, you need to watch them. That simple. It is not the same as hiring a registred CTA that has disclosure docs and needs to...

How to move the the charts

Thank you for the bump, but I did not understand the questions. If Rodbuilder believes price fluctuation is influenced by his broker, that is obviously not true.

How do Prop Firms Prevent a Trader from Blowing an Account?

In the end, if you are hiring traders, you need to watch them. We can set max loss limits per day, but that does not auto liquidate them, just prevents new opening positions. If you won't watch, don't do it.

invest in european options only ?

We only had the XMI on the Amex which also was American style. The large brokers would buy ITM options before an end of day buy program, run the index and then exercise. Easy money. XMI was like the Dow 30.
