I got it!.....I lost it...The search for consistency.

I went back to sim on Friday, and did better. Surprise Surprise! I am trying to find a setup/method that works with my personality, since I agree with the contributors here that refer to fallacy of success through copying the canned methods of others. I plan on testing forward, rather than...

    1. A 2 bar pullback - further confirmation that the TL has been broken (once price then continues upward) 2. Although the TL break occurs after some time, you are quite right to indicate that this can only been seen in retrospect, and I did not mean to imply that for this reason one cannot...

I'll have to spend more time on this, but I will give you my first thoughts: 1. The premarket move could be a combination of an abc move where the subsequent Low is a higher low, followed by the DTL break. The context, I am not aware of, other than a reaction to the sell-off yesterday...

Easy answers? Really? Sometimes the 'easy' way actually turns out to be the hard road. It doesn't feel easy, that's for sure. Am I searching? Yes. And to be honest, your first paragraph does sound like my behaviour. My plan is to allow myself to suspend the belief that I can't find an edge...

Yes, I believed they were consistently profitable. I believe that in the search for becoming consistently profitable, I need to do research and study the methods of others, adapt them and make them your own. Spydertrader was trading stocks when I was trading stocks, had a method that I first...

Nice mantra. I will give it a try. I have read, and re-read alot of authors such as Adyashanti, De Mello, Tolle, and others. They help, but they don't stay with me.

Oh my God ammo, if there were just an easy way to dispense with 'me'. I don't take prescription drugs, but if there was an 'ego-free' tab, I'd be at the counter with my money. If I can quantify my edge, as ND suggests, then I really think losers will not bother me so much. So it's back to study.

Good point Db, Its just a jumble of thoughts that don't really make alot of sense until I write it down, which I am sure is part of the reasoning why you promote journaling as a method to successful trading.

Wow, that is quite a post. I sincerely appreciate your comments. I have been reading your posts on this forum and I really value your input. I will investigate the book The Power of Habit. Thank you for the tip. I'll also be taking your other advice - I am going to cease trading (like that...

Thank you Green, I used to meditate regularly, but I admit it has taken a back seat lately. I agree its very helpful for maintaining the right perspective and being able to listen to yourself more clearly. Your other point speaks to backtesting, and I agree its something I need to go back to and...

I just can't seem to get it right. I have had a trading case of "I got it, I lost it" for the last 20 years. I have never been consistent, and yet I yearn to be able to trade in a manner that promotes good trading. I have followed Spydertrader since he started his stock journal, spent many hours...

Ghost of If You Can Draw A Straight Line

lol, yep, that's me! :-) I have been reading those links, and I also found it useful to read the first thread in the series. It seems pretty simple, yet hard for me to implement. Hence my question about following along realtime. I shall start a journal and hopefully some bright sparks can...

Db, I see mentions of a chat room, how do I get access to it?

Where would you place your stop?

Very interesting. I shall check out the ghost thread. Thanks for the great input. Edit: I have been inculcated with the idea that the market will do everything it can to shake you out of your position. It's an unnerving perspective, and one I'd like to divest myself from with the idea that "The...

Where would you place your stop?

I get it. The opportunities are there, it's just a matter of being able to recognise them in real-time for what they are, and the plan to be able to execute under those circumstances. Is the Ghost thread the summary? With 4 threads, where is the best place to start? My chart is the ES from...

Where would you place your stop?

Right, you did say you could exit and re-enter, true enough. I was going to ask what YOU would do, but hey, that really doesn't matter. Like you also said, its about ones own appetite for risk. Interesting about RR. I, like alot of people, tend to exit too early. I am managing that by...

Where would you place your stop?

Db, I annotated my chart with your commentary prior to seeing your attachment. All I can say is that your descriptions are as good as your annotations! :-). When you talk about a 'protocol', you mean your plan, the rules which guide you, and prevent you from acting on emotions., right...
