    Barron's : EUR/USD - Parity within 1 year

You're pretty smart. Only a catastrophe could hurt the Euro badly now.....Sure, it could go down, but not quickly. Time to move to the Yen I think......for more action. Selling Euro Forex call options may be the only decent play.

GOLD!!! UP or Down?? The top of gold mania??

Gold off $45 from this morning's 1911 mark. Now appears to be taking a cue from oil. I think it's fighting between Armageddon and deflation. This morning was the former, now it's the latter. Again, with no chances of higher wages to fuel more inflation, Gold is trading as a currency, not a...

RenTech: using artificial intelligence to morph one trading strategy into another

IMHO: Using tick charts as the data basis for a strategy is no different than using daily bars for a longer term strategy. The only difference is the average time-in-trade. BTW I've always been a big fan of tick bars vs. time bars as their frequency correlates to the amount of market activity.

RenTech: using artificial intelligence to morph one trading strategy into another

I think the problem is that by the time the change in market conditions has been detected by the algo, the market may revert back to it's former behavior....thus making any move to a new strategy a losing proposition. This is the classic "whipsaw".

    Barron's : EUR/USD - Parity within 1 year

So if the USD is not the best, what is the best currency to short the Euro ? Swiss franc ? JPY ? GBP ?

GOLD!!! UP or Down?? The top of gold mania??

Equities are looking attractive. A move up in that market will put the damper on gold. I don't think gold will crash, it'll just stop going up.

    RIP Thinkorswim

That's exactly what I did. I needed lower commissions, a platform with an API, and a platform with no data delays. Kept TOS strictly for the options analytics.

Aggressive people are better traders !!!

Watch-out for this....arrogant = over confident. You don't want to be that way in a badly losing trade....

Aggressive people are better traders !!!

A trader need to have a kicker in his ass, to get up and work hard to get richer and richer. Thats the difference..... For that you need some kind of aggression, that gives yourself the necessary kick in your ass. I think you are confusing AGGRESSION with MOTIVATION. Big difference. IMHO...

    Barron's : EUR/USD - Parity within 1 year

That post was TOTALLY IRRELEVANT....I saw a chart on GOOG. Forex markets align with the economic and interest rate fundies I'm afraid. I did enjoy the one chart with all of the fib lines on it...it was classic "draw enough lines on a chart and the market is bound to hit one".... LOL

    What's up with gold

Look at the strength of the Yen

CNBC's "Money in Motion" show was definitely positive on this trade....it appears the Yen must go down....and at near-zero interest rates, the dollar must rise.

    HFT is Killing the EMini

Exactly. Most of the complaints about HFT come from those who can't program and don't have a clue about how an algo is constructed and tested.

Aggressive people are better traders !!!

Not if they are missing discipline. I saw one very aggressive trader at a prop firm do pretty well with large size for a few months. Then in just 2 trades in 2 days, he completely blew his account up. He just refused to get out of what was obviously a bad position. He kept doubling-down.

Janus Overseas Fund manager has screwed big time in 2011

Funny...when I saw the thread caption, I thought there would be sex story here ("has screwed big time"). Maybe that was his downfall...

Long TBT for the very long period

As with me.... http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?threadid=224029 You are Long and WRONG. TBT long play looks to be "delayed"....till 2012.

    TBT long play

I was obviously "early" with this one. Whew....now they're talking the 10 year note going to 1.5% !!! As usual with the markets: "it will end when it ends". (the decline in interest dates) At some point in time, maybe early 2012, staying short the TBT ITM puts will be a great money maker.
