    Java vs C++ or C#

I think one of the largest Java platform's is ThinkorSwim's desktop application. It's gotta be 1/2 million lines of code....at least.....and it uses multithreading to-the-max.

Look at the strength of the Yen

It hit 77 today....so this is looking good. Definitely not straight up however.....lots of retracement action in ALL of the major forex cross-pairs.

Great Article on Prop firms- Bright, Echo, Maverick Trading, SMB, etc.

Interestingly, firms like Keystone either require the training or they require a auditable track record. I think that's very fair....and good business sense on their part.

I remember seeing everyone excited about Woodies CCI...has it been proven to be a dud ?

    BAC 8.0 straddle for 0.26

Interesting play this one. Looks like a short call situation, but then again, with rumors of JP Morgan buying them....it could be a disasterous trade.

Look at the strength of the Yen

And that makes sense given the record low interest rates in the US. If the USD didn't crash by now, it never will. I think the Euro and the Yen are due for some weakness here.

    RIP Thinkorswim

Typical of most industries in consolidation: Service gets worse....natch.

Bingo. That explains the 95%+ failure rate.

BP (leverage) should be assigned based on track record period. No track record= 5:1 fair track record=10:1 good track record=20:1 great track record=50:1 reassess every 6 months. Do good prop firms do this I wonder ?

Great Article on Prop firms- Bright, Echo, Maverick Trading, SMB, etc.

You are absolutely right. And no one should expect a great prop "deal" without being able to prove a decent track record. That being said, a lot of issues raised in this thread were related to unethical business practices: refusing deposit refund requests, verbally indicating one deal and...

Wow - Maverick is looking good. They're like a prop extension of Interactive Brokers !!! What platform(s) do they offer ?

    Moving Stoploss to Break Even

That's pretty slick. One thing I do want to mention: backtest the break even strategy. No question it will smooth out the equity curve, but at the same time, it will reduce the slope as well. It will definitely lower the win percentage. One other possibility is to use a chandlier exit at 20.10...

EUO - time to fly ?

Whoops.....maybe the Euro is now looking better: http://www.smartmoney.com/invest/strategies/its-time-for-a-flight-from-safety-1314309523609/?link=SM_hp_featStory So much for parity to the USD !

Obama shuts down Gibson guitars for breaking an Indian law (not an american one)

Isn't that RIDICULOUS ? Our whole DNA in America is no longer "normal". We've morphed into a MONSTER.

steve jobs and the role of failure and the failure of socialism

He is. AND...I agree with him. Jobs is one in one-million. Most that fail that much, never take another chance. Or more likely: they CAN'T take that chance. Despite my criticism of him, I do give him a high persistence rating.

EUO - time to fly ?

This is a bet on yet another crisis in Europe which will decimate the Euro currency. Sept 17 calls can be had for about 30 cents !! A 5% move would do the trick...but are the central banks going to prevent this ?

IF BAC is doing so well why borrow at 11% from Warren?

However, Buffett's "move" was free market driven. It was also slick in that it burned the short sellers who were confident of a BAC bankruptcy. Now, that possibility looks slim.

Obama shuts down Gibson guitars for breaking an Indian law (not an american one)

This is all so stupid, but typical of all of the agencies we must fund with tax money today. Other agencies need to go as well: EPA, SEC, FDA Huge waste of money and resources. Job killers as well.

steve jobs and the role of failure and the failure of socialism

Yeah, but did you see that CNBC documentary on Jobs ? Especially that one scene where he was talking down and almost chastising a programmer "Is that the best you can do ?" Here, this poor guy looks like he's been working all night.... That was a huge "turn-off" to me regarding Steve Jobs...

August 2011 QQQ Weekly Option Trades - Final Results

Yes, but August was a rock 'n roll market....favoring option purchases despite the higher premiums. Most of the time, in calmer markets, it's best to be selling premium.
