    Any Math Whiz Here??

dozu888, I use an ema for intraday swing trading. Keep in mind what EMA does, it tracks the price over time. The ema keeps my trade management logicical for exiting and keeps me trailing a winner.

Hello MACD, Great for you!! This is awesome to read that there still exist good real mentors. Awesome. I have never read a post where someone found the right mentor and success was obtained in a short period of time.

    Stop-loss: Trail or not?

Hello imjohn, Thanks for the response and good conversation Yes, I am in the what "works" for me stage as well. There are many ways to take a setup, but knowing my what calms my mental, my worries, my comfortability after I place the trade, and exit is where I am at. And as you stated, does...

imjohn, Thanks and I am data brain as well. I believe manual backtesting with starting with actual trading capital helps as well and commission fee per trade.

    Stop-loss: Trail or not?

Hello imjohn, YES, that is what I am discovering as well seeking the higher than 1:1. After that "mistake trade" that leads to a loss, sitting an watching ticks go away is not easy. I do not focus on the Risk vs reward per trade, just the trade it self. But I understand your point. Everyone...

imjohn, Good trading!! Your right on the sentence in blue and I can tell you from experience what ever method is chosen it must be doable in the environment the trader is located. Stop-loss: Trail or not?

Hello imjohn, I thought about your post and wanted to share some good comments. You mentioned something that most day traders in learning mode at times forget and also don't consider while seeking method(s) that fit their personality AND their capital. Even more, it is something I am starting...

Thank you imjohn for responding. Great reponse and logical statical based testing. For each of my manual trades, I have started calculating Maximum Favorable Excursion (MFE) and the MAE Maximum Adverse Excursion (MAE). This way after XXXX amount of trades, I can have some logical decision on...

    Stop-loss: Trail or not?

imjohn, How did you determine that your stop loss and and profit target will always be 1.5 : 1 (reward to risk)? Was this determined via back testing or just strictly personal risk and reward setting you chose for comfort, etc?

Where did you get the profit target 6, 16, and 100 from? In addition, where did you get the stop loss 24, 25, and 27 from?

    Stop-loss: Trail or not?

Yep, because guess what. After you put the position on, neither of us have no idea/certainty what Mr.Market wants to do. We can only simply manage the position.

Overnight, Good example and believe sir, I completely understand what you are saying. There are MANY trades I see on the regular where I my stop can be at +20 ticks and profit target (local support and resistance) is within a 10 tick distance. Why I do not just take the 10 tick profit? Well...

    Stop-loss: Trail or not?

Overnight, Because the first profit target is smaller than the risk it takes to get to the first profit target. And mentally once price goes well beyond your first profit target, the mental mind will regret it. In addition, you will then need the confidence to take another full trade after the...
