    Mutual Fund vs. ETF

$ cost averaging is easier with a Mutual fund, but at the end of each year, the mutual fund will send you a tax bill where the ETF does not. "Mutual funds are required to distribute their income to shareholders each year in the form of interest, dividends and capital gains. Most do so at...

Is volume analysis useful in index futures?

As there is a NO and a YES!, I'm going to go with MAYBE. Trading is just not that simple. Those that can mine data and get alpha from it, will profit. If you can "watch" futures and their volume and get profitable triggers from adding that to other information, that would separate you from the...

    Box Spread

Correct. My point is that it is important to learn them, especially with options and particularly when you are asking for help. I assume this is just a general question as trading box spreads today is near impossible unless you are a market maker.

    Box Spread

Herkfsu, I don't think spindr0 is picking on you when he corrects you. With options is is important to learn the language of the product. If you buy a box spread, you buy the vertical call and put spread. If you sell the box spread, you do the other side. If you buy any 10 point box for less...

is there a place to get free API futures data?

I'm not aware of free live data with an API as the exchanges charge for that. You can pay for CTS T4 or Option City-City Trader with the API enabled and get live data for a reasonable cost. Then you can either use that to trade or not. What trading software do you use now?

effect of trying to obtain large position in a penny stock

It is my expectation that it is the investors responsibility. YOu should check with an attorney if anyone ever wants to do that. Not really sure why anyone would do that on an OTC stock.
