Long term hold e mini 500 or SPY

What do you mean by take a huge loss if you are down? Each day, your Future’s position is marked to the close and so is your liquidating equity. Each 12/31, you are marked to market for IRS taxes. Other countries might have another process for taxes but the reality is if your position goes...

Long term hold e mini 500 or SPY

Assuming you are subject to US taxes, and you hold for more than 1 year, and the trade is profitable, and you do not borrow to buy the SPY, the SPY would be better from a tax standpoint. 100% would be the long term cap gain rate. You will receive Dividends. ES futures are currently 1256...

    Why choose options trading

I was very clear. Margin accounts under $25,000 are subject to PDT after 3 trades in a rolling 5 days. Cash accounts are not subject to PDT. Futures account are not either. Options on futures too, no PDT...

    Why choose options trading

You can do as many trades as you want in a cash account until you run through your money. Then you have to wait for trades to settle to trade more.

    Why choose options trading

Yes. NO PDT on a CASH account. Our Lightspeed Trader software typically requires $25,000 or more, but right now we have this promotion. https://www.lightspeed.com/Fund4Less/ Most smaller accounts choose Web trader. This is the old...

    Why choose options trading

Putting aside that I'm not actively trading right now because my focus is sales, if I were, I would open a Futures account and a Portfolio Margin account. This would give me access to Futures, Options on Futures, Equities, and Options on Equities. Then, I would have the tools I need to react to...

    Why choose options trading

PDT only applies to Equities and Options in a Margin account (Cash accounts have no PDT rule) -nothing in a futures account is regulated by FINRA, which is where the PDT rule comes from.

FCM with SIPC- or FDIC-like insurance

I do not know. Your question seems to be, if you have a Universal Account where the Broker is protected against losses from funds in a Securities account, can you trade future and have BP to trade with and journal money to cover losses before files are sent to the exchanges, say 4:15pm ET, and...

Buy Bid / Buy Ask or Sell Bid / Sell Ask ?

I'm an AI not a real person.

Buy Bid / Buy Ask or Sell Bid / Sell Ask ?

Come on. BUY ASK And BUY BID are standard order types. We do it with HOT keys not the order ticket.

Buy Bid / Buy Ask or Sell Bid / Sell Ask ?

Buy ask is an aggressive order that matches the ASK where you expect a quick execution. Buy Bid will enter a buy order to match the bid which requires the sellers to lower their offers to hit your bid. Less aggressive and might not get an execution. Both are limit orders and not "market orders."

FCM with SIPC- or FDIC-like insurance

Sorry to hear that. I would like to see a Futures program even if it just started with coverage of $50K/account. Then built up over time. It is very important.

FCM with SIPC- or FDIC-like insurance

This is not meant to be a dig at anyone, just an observation. I find the traders that are the most concerned about the safety of the FCM deposit or SIPC deposit tend to have smaller accounts. Which I find interesting. Maybe because the smaller account will find it harder to replace or do without...
