The Feds Effort Has Done Nothing

Uhm thanks for the explaining the TED spread to me. As you correctly say it's a market rate and the market rate signals a tight credit market for the average bank. END OF MESSAGE. These will once again disseminate credit into the economy once their balance sheets allow for it and they feel...

The Feds Effort Has Done Nothing

The CRB index is 5% below its March 1 level now. Funny isn't it, considering the Fed is printing money 24/7 and pumping credit around the world?! On a side note, Gold went from $650 to $1000 when Volcker started to raise rates and only started to implode many months later.

The Feds Effort Has Done Nothing

And why would we need anyone to help credit being cut off even more than it is right now? Looking at the TED spread and 2y swap rates shows panicking banks that are a) hoarding cash b) don't trust their peers c) unable/unwilling to disseminate credit to corporate/consumer customers.

Are naked puts really this safe????

Hope his 1250 ES sell stop gets triggered soon. Can't wait to see him 'trade around' the position.

The Feds Effort Has Done Nothing

Oh you're broke? That's why you paper trade and complain about the Fed all day? Maybe go get a job and stop whining.

The Feds Effort Has Done Nothing

Ever tried telling a guy trying to flee a burning airplane wreck that he's stupid panicking and a lot more people would survive the crash if he just calmed down and didn't panic so everyone can leave the wreck orderly?

The Feds Effort Has Done Nothing

So why do people make bank runs if it's all covered by the FDIC? Why did people stand outside of Indymac when it's all so nicely guaranteed? Do you understand the effects of mass panic and paranoia? Nobody will give a damn about FDIC and Federal guarantees once mass bank runs start as every...

The Feds Effort Has Done Nothing

If the fed had hiked instead as many fools here on the board were arguing, maybe you'd be standing in the line at the bank trying to get your money out instead of whining on a message board about high LIBOR. What's worse?

    Brutual sell off coming?

If inflation was out of control, wouldn't long bonds be down in the dumpster and the ten year would be yielding 12, 13 or 16% like in the late 70s as wage inflation was rampant and fueling price increases across the board? Unit labor cost increases were insane (+10%) in 1979 while productivity...

Are naked puts really this safe????

A lil' reminder of what happened in January to many put writers that thought they could simply 'trade around' any type of gap situation.

Mrs. Field's Files for Chapter 11

OMG really? I guess we're all doomed? What's the trade here? Long bonds? Load up on double short index ETFs? Maybe short USD? Short AG commodities? Should I add to my losing positions in retail and restaurant shorts as nobody ACTUALLY TRADING WITH REAL MONEY seems to care about...

9.1 Million Barrel Build in Crude Oil. Wow. Get The Hell Out.

Just like lambs going to the slaughter house are frolicking happily. They're also not worried one bit. If you were trading you'd ALWAYS be worried and wondering if your position is on the right side of the trade. But then again, we're in a 'full blown recession' as you say, so who needs stops...

Our paper trading heroes in this thread would have simply 'traded around' a situation like that and magically have come out on top!!!!

CNBC's Ron Insana closing his Fund of Hedge Funds

Note how the allocation in Renaissance was in the REIF fund - their Institutional Equities Fund. This fund is NOT their famed (and closed) Medaillon fund, but rather a L/S equities fund with a (from what I recall) very mediocre track record.
