Are futures Demo accounts realistic for profit?

Depends on what you're trading. In my experience - the fills on ES are close to actual fills. On less liquid instruments it might be a completely different animal. Regardless, you'll find that you won't be able to replicate your results as soon as you start trading with real money. But it is of...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Which one? I don't see anything special. Seems to be a range bound session is all.

Flat @ 54. - 4,00. Always nice shorting the LOD. LOL. I suppose they won't give up 3050 without a fight.

How so? We're almost back to the LOD here.

Position sizing and adding to winners.

Here's an example from today. We were up against a resistance level on ES and while I was bullish, I did not want to take on a full position at that point in case we saw a deep retrace first. At the same time, I didn't want to risk the market leaving me behind. I set up 2 additional buy stop...

Position sizing and adding to winners.

Hi, Schizo, I thought this was the standard way of doing it for those who actually manage their risk? If you have not been doing this - what HAVE you been doing? :) I'd say decide what your maximum risk in % is per trade and then create a matrix in Excel which references your current account...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Yeah. Just sold off a good 10,75 points here and my late long entry would have been red by now. I'm nervous holding both longs and shorts at this point as I'm expecting a sell from this area, but have no idea if it's here or 60 points higher. So I'm happy just taking smaller targets.

Nice one! :) I thought you had the guts to hold forever, though. I flattened my long at 66 even though I'm pretty sure we'll see 75 or more today. Just don't want to risk holding through a deep pullback from here. It seems pretty damn bullish from here though.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

My bet is that we'll see a decent up day today as long as we can hold above 59 or even 53. Will be stalking a long entry here. Targeting 75 or more. Failure to hold 53 sets up a swing back down to 43 and below. IMO. :)

Does anyone else Test your trading ideas with Small size?

It seems like most people start trading with live money with unproven and untested methodologies.

The myth of letting your winners run

It seems like you're comparing two different ways of trading, i.e., scalping versus holding for longer swings. Both can work really well, but you'd need to be a very good scalper in order to beat someone who's consistently capturing larger swings on less trades. The question is of course what...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

A fairly slow start of the week, though. Low volume, lower volatility and a smaller range compared to the most recent weeks.

Not sure I'd call it a weak close. We did close near the HOD and well in the green.

Headed for last week's High here. Maybe 3075 today by the Close if we can take out 65.
