I hear ostriches can get quite violent and they kick hard... If you train your ostrich to defend you and yours in the post armageddon collapse, you might just kill two birds with one stone :).

GDP = Gross Domestic Production right?

Again, as I mentioned earlier, there's no such assumption made when calculating GDP using the expenditure approach. The (im)balance of trade is captured by the last term in the famous national income identity.

GDP = Gross Domestic Production right?

Well, it is what it is, right? I don't see a practical approach that would allow one to adjust for the "reserve ccy" issue without making all sorts of completely arbitrary assumptions. Moreover, there's all sorts of other well-known issues with national accounting, but that's life, innit...

GDP = Gross Domestic Production right?

Nah, I think the question is how to deal with consumption of things that are actually produced elsewhere. I simply pointed out that the expenditure approach obviously accounts for that. In general, there's a fundamental assumption that you cannot consume something that has not been produced...

GDP = Gross Domestic Production right?

Hahaha, was my comment too snide? At any rate, I don't remember exactly, but I think one of them is the production method. Don't remember the name of the other one.

GDP = Gross Domestic Production right?

This is known as an expenditure method of calculating GDP. It includes a term for (exports - imports), which should address your concerns over where the sh1t that Americans consume actually gets made. Generally, I think you'll find that useful basic macroeconomic knowledge is available on...

    Pairs trading with options

That's right. This suggests to me that what you have is a vol spread trade, rather than a pairs trade, which is exactly what Corelio was saying, I think... This means that you buy one straddle vs another and delta-hedge ad nauseam. That's an entirely different kettle of fish, 'cause there's...

    Pairs trading with options

That's right, except I am not sure what you mean by "short/long theta"... To me, it's all ticks and/or dollars that I pay/receive to get the trade on.

    Pairs trading with options

Well, to make a long story short, it will always be one of two cases: A) weights that make the end position flat DV01, assuming both legs ITM at expiry; B) weights that make net premium 0, in which case I'd probably be delta-hedging. I don't really do B trades any more as it's too...

what are the chances yen trades thru 87

Clearly, there's been quite a bit more pessimism about the dollar recently. BoJ isn't in the mkt buying dollars and I don't think intervention is likely any time soon.

83 percent of all U.S. stocks are in the hands of 1 percent of the people.

Haven't they tried that sorta thing before? I seem to recall a minor event in a small country arnd 1917? What was it exactly? At any rate, you can't seize assets, but you sure can impose higher taxes. I am also not entirely sure what your point is. Is it the income inequality in the US...
