The TREND is your friend.. The biggest lie ever!

A lot of people do this, cut winners, let losers fly, add to losing positions...and it works!! But only in the short term. Long term, it's a losing strategy for a trader. How much should I think about commission and liquidity costs?

Simply because he has higher costs. Assume both traders do 10 trades. Some will win and some will lose. Either way, costs are paid. In order to recoup these higher costs over a number of trades, BMO trader will require an higher minimum profit target than IB trader. :)

    10 pips

I suspect he needs a relatively wide stop to meet 80% win rate. Maybe 20 ticks stop loss? Personally, i think he will lose or at best break even rather than becoming rich lol.

How much should I think about commission and liquidity costs?

Go back and read my post. I said very clearly in BIG letters....MINIMUM profit target. The reason why i say 10x is that over time costs add up and you must make enough to cover them. 10x is just a rule of thumb. Note again, that word MINIMUM. Your profit targets should be way, way more than this.

    10 pips

10 ticks on eurusd is just about ok since it meets my criteria of having an absolute minimum profit target of 10x cost (cost is the bid/offer spread plus round trip commission). So u might just get away with it. Still...it ain't gonna make you rich. You might think about looking onto binary...

How much should I think about commission and liquidity costs?

Very important imho. Your absolute MINIMUM profit target should be 10x cost. Cost equals bid/offer plus commission.

Can't understand it though, I'm still down money even though i won a few times in the last 100 spins. Thought i...
